The words still crashed through John’s mind. His heart pounded in his ears, and he fought to keep from hyperventilating.
This was far worse than the warning James had been trying to give him.
“Come on now, John. You’re scaring me. Is it Branwen?”
John finally managed to look up at Hugh, and the other man’s face paled.
“What’s happened to her?”
“He’s taken her. I left her alone, and he’s taken her.”
Hugh got the passenger door open, and John nearly fell into the seat. Hugh stood for a moment, holding onto the door himself now.
