Chapter 69 By the time Hugh arrived, John wasn’t any closer to figuring out what he was missing. He kept dismissing the words and ideas going through his mind as too outlandish to consider, certainly before he had a great deal more information. He knew that wouldn’t hold up much longer. He was putting the brakes on his own mental engine, denying it the fuel it needed to function. He’d never done that at all before a few weeks ago, and he’d never considered doing it consciously, not once. This entire situation was beyond reason.
