Chapter 53 The breeze blowing John’s hair back no longer held the painfully cold bite of the day he and Branwen had arrived, just over a week and surely a thousand years ago. Clouds rolling in over the mountains of the national park promised a change, as did the sharp, damp wind. Even if that wind was gale force and carried hail and freezing rain, John would have taken his chance to step outside by himself. Poor cellular reception inside Elizabeth’s house served as a useful excuse, certainly. But what he really needed was to clear his head and calm his unsteady emotions enough to call his father.
