My heartbeat sped up so fast it felt audible. Why was I always caught in situations like this?
I stood frozen for exactly one second after pulling the door shut behind me..quietly, before anyone inside could notice, then forced myself to move, stepping away from the office entrance like I had simply been passing by.
Director Shelton's eyes landed on me immediately. "Selena?"
