Chapter Eighty-Five.
The footsteps in the soft sand along the water's edge pointed toward the group of chosen family. Vicky and Jess were walking together, as Izzy ran with Tank, Woof and Cigs, already making their way back from the cliff edge at the far side of the private beach. Kyla and Kermit were focusing on the area out to sea, taking up their position to keep watch for the first two hours of the day.
The sudden sound of a harrowing scream from Leon and Safron’s house halted their exercise. The group of chosen family members all turned to look toward where it came from. The screams from inside increased, a heartbreaking sound of grief, mixed with fear and anger.
