The last ancient wolf

Chapter 2

It’s now the day before the ceremony of Markus taking over Alpha from his father. Markus turned 21 two weeks ago, and still hasn’t found his mate yet. The current Alpha agreed to allow him to step up without a Luna.

Markus is 6ft3 with a toned body, piercing green eyes that make you melt and yet black hair. He is the hottest male in the pack, and doesn’t he know it. We were best friends for years but he turned against me when my parents died and I still don’t know why the pack hates me so much.

Just as I finish putting the banners up on the field by the lake I’m called by Luna Cassandra. “Well you pulled it off didn’t you Lucy?” She states rather than questions. “However I don’t like how the stage is placed in the middle. It should be by the lake! Didn’t you listen to me at all?”.

Lucy growled internally knowing she will get punished otherwise. She had no direction from the Luna on how to set this up and still finds a reason to complain.

“The royals will turn up at 5 tonight, make sure the rooms are up to highest standard then go back to your normal routines. And stay out of the way” luna Cassandra stated before walking off.

After making sure the rooms were completed before the royals turned up Lucy sat by the lake watching the sunset wondering what her wolf will be like and what life could be like away from Purple moon. Tomorrow is her 18th birthday and soon things will change.

“Lucy!” A deep voice called behind her. “What are you doing? Haven’t you got some cleaning to do?” It was Markus staring at her. Lucy has noticed Markus staring at her a lot lately.

“I completed all my tasks that the Luna requested.” Lucy replied. She couldn’t help herself from asking, “are you looking forward to being Alpha?”

Markus’s eyes flashed black. “How is that any of your business mutt!”

“Sorry soon to be Alpha” Lucy lowered her head. Tears welling up from missing how they used to be before the events that changed her life. Lucy starts to walk away but Markus grabs her hand.

“I miss how we used to be, you would have been my beta if it wasn’t for that attack” Markus whispers. “ but now it would be too dangerous for you to hold any position”.

Lucy became stuck with shock, dangerous? How I’m only an ordinary wolf. She stares at Markus questioning him to go on however he just lets go and turns away. Lucy starts walking back to her bedroom for the night before everything becomes hectic.
