“They want you to come back.” Harper didn’t say it as a question.
“Nathan didn’t say that explicitly.” I pick at the label on my wine bottle. “But yeah. That’s what he’s suggesting.”
“Are you going to?”
“I don’t know.” The uncertainty is exhausting. “If I go back, I’m right back in the middle of it. Helping Daniel. Saving his company. Probably destroying any progress I’ve made in moving on.”
“And if you don’t?”
“He loses everything. The company he built. His legacy. Everything he sacrificed our marriage for.” I meet her eyes. “And I have to live with letting it happen.”
Harper leans back against the couch. “There’s no right answer here, is there?”
“No.” I laugh bitterly. “There really isn’t.”
