I click through articles on my laptop. Each one details the investigation with brutal efficiency. Marcus Hale’s assets were frozen. Lydia’s business empire crumbling like a house of cards. Federal charges pending.
It’s past midnight. I should be sleeping. But sleep means nightmares about someone in my apartment. Someone with a key.
So I scroll. Read. Try to make sense of everything that’s happened.
Then I see him.
A news clip from earlier today. Daniel leaving Sterling Tower. Reporters cluster. Cameras flash in his face.
