Chapter One - The Wedding

1066 Words
April's Point Of View I looked at myself calmly in the full view mirror that hung in my bedroom.  Today was the day I was going to marry my mate, Lucas Campbell.  Ordinarily Werewolves don't get married.  The mating bond is 100 times stronger than any human relationship could ever be, and yet I wanted to tie my way to Lucas in every way possible.  Plus I didn't want to have a different name from our children. Lily and Noah were three now and were taking part in the wedding ceremony.  Lily was the flower barer and Noah was a page boy.  His cousin Samuel was walking with them too.  My best friend is mated to Lucas's brother Liam.  So we are now one big, happy family.   There was another reason I was marrying Lucas though.  I wanted him to see how much he meant to me.  He spent five years knowing he was my mate after a car accident took the lives of my Mom and my sister.  An accident that I wrongly accused him of causing, and I was so angry with the world I nearly missed my chance to be happy with him.   There was a knock at my door, my bridesmaids were giggling on the other side "Can we come in?" Gracie squealed in unbridled delight "Please??" "Come on then you horrible lot!"  I answered her with a laugh of my own. Erin, Gracie and Mia bowled through the door all at the same time.  They were wearing emerald green dresses and looked absolutely fabulous.  Gracie and Mia were in long gowns, Erin's dress was about the size of tinkerbell's which is how she liked to dress and I wouldn't change it for the world.  We all exchanged hugs before my fourth bridesmaid made her appearance. "Sorry!"  Lauren called coming in behind them "They overpowered me"  She rolled her eyes good naturedly. "Lauren I seriously can't believe you kept them contained this long."  I chuckled. Lauren had come over first thing this morning to help me get ready.  She got here just as Lucas left.  His Mom, Alexis, had suggested that we do the whole 'don't see each other before the wedding' thing.  But I wouldn't even contemplate spending a night without him.  Almost four years ago he had miraculously recovered from a fatal gun shot wound.  I'd watched the whole thing, it had been the worse moment of my life.  So no, I wouldn't be without my mate for the sake of tradition thank you very much! "Liam's wrestling with the kids down stairs.  They look absolutely gorgeous, but I'm not sure how long that will last"  Erin informed me. "And how's Lucas?"  I asked  "He's ecstatic April.  He's got everything he has ever wanted and he could not be happier.  He just wants time to speed up a bit, but George and Jordan are down there too"  Mia answered me.  She blushed when she said Georges name.  She loved him with everything she had. "Charlie and Elliot are running security"  Gracie said a little put out for them both "Gracie they volunteered to do it and they are our best warriors.   Just remember this is a pretty high profile event.  The Alpha and Luna are getting married.  There are two other Alpha and Luna's in the wedding party.  It's good to be on our A game!"  Erin was right of course.  She made a great Beta female! And I always felt safe when I was with her. "Come on you two stop bickering."  Mia chided, always in charge despite being one of the youngest.  Gracie was her older sister, though you'd never figure that out without their drivers licences.  "Luna it's time to get you hitched." I checked myself in the mirror one last time.  I was wearing a simple ivory A-line dress.  It had a high neck with a beautifully detailed lace bodice.  It was made of chiffon and fell to the floor in length.  Being that the dress was so simple Lauren had done some sort of really intricate up do which involved a lot of curling and pins.  It would take me at least three days to take the pins out.  I had red flowers woven through my hair as a sign of respect to our Moon Goddess.  My daughter would be wearing the same design of dress.  All the boys were in full morning suits with Emerald green cravats but each had a red rose as a button whole.  All my bridesmaids were wearing ruby chokers.  My shoes and dress were new, my blue garter had been borrowed from Lauren and I was wearing a pair of Alexis's diamond earrings.  As much as I missed my Mom and my sister I had to admit, I had some pretty good stand-in's.  Lucas's family had welcomed me in with open arms.    We were getting married at the pack house.  There was a marquee set up outside and Lucas's Mom had been working tirelessly to make sure that everything was perfect.  Months and months of preparation and we were ready. "I'm ready."  I said to my girls.  "Let's go" With Lucas and Liam already at the front of the marquee with Evelyn (She did NOT want to be a bridesmaid so we settled on her marrying the two of us) our procession of girls met the group of guys at the bottom of the stairs in the grand hall. "Mommy!!"  My adorable twins shouted at the same time, they came rushing towards me for cuddles.  Samuel waited patiently behind them for his turn.  "You look lovely Auntie April - Really pretty."   "Thank you Sammy."  I said ruffling his hair. We organised our procession just outside of the marquee.  Lauren and Samuel, Gracie and Mia, Erin and Jordan, and finally me and my twins.  My father had passed away a few years back.  Even if he was alive he wouldn't have walked me down the aisle, our relationship was strained to say the least.   When the strains of 'here comes the bride'  reached my ears I didn't even feel slightly nervous, if anything I was trying to stop myself from skipping down the isle with joy.  When my eyes found Lucas's he took my breath away.  His dark hair was freshly cut, his stubble was of perfect length and his eyes sparkled ocean blue. Everything in my life was perfect
