The Spartan's Revenge Story

Chapter 4: I will have my revenge!

Raka walked towards the meadows, rocky walls on either side, lost in his own world. It didn't matter, after all, he was dead. He had all the time in the world. The landscape ahead was what one would expect from a garden. Beautiful trees and flowers everywhere, yet at the same time, somehow devoid of life. At the far end ,was a mountain. It looked unforgiving, promising death to all who dared climb it, in the distance he could make out  a river flowing , almost like it was cutting the landscape in half. What was surprising was that the water was pure, liquid black. The River Styx , the infamous river of the UnderWorld. Infamous for causing death to anyone who refused to honour promises made in its name. Even the Gods did not take its name lightly. There were bridges constructed over the river to cross to the other side.  

 He kept walking, head hung down , as if in shame. When , suddenly, he looked up, with wide eyes. He quickly jumped to the side, rolling as he hit the ground, and came up face to face with a cat-like creature. The creature smiled at him, showing him a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth. 

"Why, hello there", she said to him, while he could only stare dumbly. He had never seen something like her before after all. His surprise was understandable. 

"Who are you?", he managed to ask dumbly. 

"I'm Selena", she replied, " pleased to meet you, now please, die", she said as she raked her claws across his chest.

Pain exploded around his chest as he flew backwards. He closed his eyes as the pain overtook him for a moment, when out of nowhere, something crashed into him from the side, sending him flying sideways. He rolled on the ground and came to a stop. He groaned in pain, his right arm had taken most of the impact, and it seemed like it had broken. 

"I'm Cate, the younger and more beautiful sister", the creature that attacked him from the side said. It seemed that she had kicked in the arm and managed to break it in a single blow. Raka groaned in pain as he managed to get up. It was clear what they had wanted, and meant that he had to get away from them. Without a weapon he was in no position to fight them. Not to mention, he was also severely wounded. He had to get away quick!!!

" What do you want?', he asked, slowly backing away, knowing full well that they would know what he was trying to do. 

Selena smiled, she knew what was happening. Her prey tried stalling for time, time for what she could not imagine. For help to come? Ha, what a joke. This was the UnderWorld, not some children's playground. But she enjoyed crushing the hope of her victims, it gave her a primal pleasure to see the look on her victim's faces when they realized that no one would help them and that they were at her mercy, her toy to be used and thrown away. 

"We want to eat you", Cate replied, fully serious. She bared her fangs and pounced at him. 

Raka dodged to the left at the last possible second , just in time to see a foot swinging at his face. His eyes opened wide in surprise. Selena had appeared and had a kick aimed at his face. Raka realized that there was no way for him to dodge the attack, he was in mid-air. He pulled his head back and took the kick in his chest, and saw stars.  CRAAACK.  Blinding light flashed in his vision, the kick had broken some of his ribs, he was sure of it. He stayed on the ground, waiting for his vision to clear, unable to move for a few moments, thankfully, he didn't have to breathe. He got up on shaky feet. He knew he wouldn't be able to dodge them, their agility was not something he could handle, even in his peak condition.

The pain from the wound in his chest had started to subside, and was replaced by the pain of broken ribs. He had his back to the rocky wall of the valley. Selena smiled at him and then leaped at him pushing him against the mountain wall, then proceeded to use his chest as a scratching post. Raka reached out with his left hand , searching for anything he could use, the pain becoming unbearable. 

CRACCCK

Selene smiled as she pulled Raka's rib out from his chest and showed it to him. Raka looked at it with wide eyes, dumbfounded, and then, screamed.

"Aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh", he shouted, " what have you done , you b***h?", he screamed in anger. The pain converting his fear into anger. His left hand found a loose rock and swung it around, aiming it at Selene's head.

Selene, who was surprised by the sudden shout of rage, did not see the rock coming. Raka managed to hit her squarely in the temple, which caused her to jump back, clutching her her head in pain. Cate seeing this opportunity, leaped at him, aiming a kick at his face. 

Raka's instincts told him to duck, and duck he did. His body had been honed in the battlefield, he trusted his instincts, and just in time as well, as he saw a foot sailing past his head and lodging itself where his head had been only a second ago. He scrambled to his feet and ran. A few feet ahead of him, he saw a small opening in the rocky wall. Just large enough for him to squeeze through, just barely. He managed to push half his body through the opening. The opening got narrower ahead. While he was struggling with pushing his body through the opening , an enraged Selena was seeking revenge. She leaped at him and managed to bite into his left hand. Twisting and shaking her head, she managed to rip the hand off with a sickening crunch. 

Raka was almost through the opening when he felt something sharp bite down on his hand, threatening to pull him out from the safety of the cave. The pain got sharper and sharper, until, CRUUUNCH. His left arm had been bitten clean off.  With a scream of pain he pushed  through the opening and fell. The opening on the wall was couple feet above the cave floor. He landed on the floor and heard another resounding c***k!!. Dazed, he got up without bothering to check what he had broken this time, his body was numb. He limped forward, his arms swinging  uselessly, his right leg refusing to work, and then promptly fainted and collapsed.

Cate calmed her sister down. Selena was livid that her prey had managed to escape.

" Calm down sister, once he finds out what's in that cave he would beg us to kill him", Cate told her sister.

Selena simply smiled, thinking of the horrors awaiting her escaped quarry. "No matter", she said, " at least I got a memento " she said , holding up the severed hand.

"Shall we return home for today?" Cate asked.

"Yes, lets, I've worked up an appetite" Selena replied. " I can't wait to eat", she said

Cate smiled.
