Chapter 5: A Cave?

1281 Words
Raka slowly opened his eyes. Light filled the cave. How did that happen? He was in a cave, caves are supposed to be dark and dingy. As he lay on the ground, he realized that the wounds on his body had healed. His chest no longer looked like someone had dug it out with a shovel, and the wounds were already scabbed over. His broken right arm hard healed and was working again. His left hand had scabbed over. Perhaps it was too much to hope for it to grow back. His legs were working properly as well. All in all, he was all right. "I feel .. exhausted", he said. So his stamina did have limits. That was new information. Information was always good to have. He looked around the cave, small clusters of crystals were gathered around the cave ceiling and in the corners of the cave floor. "Oh, so that's where the light is coming from", he asked. Raka walked over to one of the crystals. It looked jagged and sharp. He grabbed a crystal and tried to break it, but had to pull his hand back due to a sharp pain.  He looked at his hand, and saw a wound. It had already begun to heal, and moments later, it had already scabbed over. "Huh, so I heal quickly?", Raka thought. It didn't seem like he could break the crystal anytime soon. A shame really, it would have made a wonderful weapon. He looked around and saw a small path that led further into the cave. "Should I go in?", he asked himself. He didn't know what was in there, he didn't have a weapon that he could fight with. It seemed a too dangerous risk to take. He looked around for , searching for something that he could use as a weapon.Eventually he found a sharp rock that was oblong shaped and had sharp edges, granted, it wasn't the best weapon, but it was better than nothing.  He decided to walk further into the cave. Small crystals embedded the pathway, providing just enough light to see what lay ahead. Soon he reached the end of the tunnel, and what he saw took his breath away. A beautiful garden paradise lay in front of him. He was in a large clearing. Trees filled with lush green leaves and ripe fruits. The grass looked a shade of green, that nature could not possibly replicate. The crystals that lined the ceiling above reminded him of the beautiful morning sun. He looked around in awe as he took in the beautiful scenery around him.  To his left, a river with the clearest water flowed peacefully. The sight enough was enough to tempt him to drink. He knelt before the stream to take a drink, when , suddenly, his head was pushed underwater. He struggled and tried to surface, but whatever was holding him underwater had arms of iron. He tried not to breathe, but the water seemed to climb up his nose and mouth, until..... "Where am I?', he asked. Just a moment ago, he was drowning. How as he here? He looked around, this was his home. His mother came running towards him, " Son!", she exclaimed, "Why are you here?", she asked.  "What do you mean?", he replied, " I live here", he said. His mother stared at him for a moment. Blood started pouring out of her eyes. "You are a failure!" she exclaimed. Then a tendril of light erupted from her chest, and moved downwards. Before Raka could do anything, she fell to the ground , dead.  Raka came up for breath, jumping up , he looked around to what had held his head underwater. The rock he was using as a makeshift weapon still held in his hand. He held it in front of him, ready to use it at a moment's notice. Then he felt a kick on his chest. He slashed the rock upwards, trying to hit whatever had kicked, but the rock swung through empty air. He fell into the water once again.  Raka looked around, he was in his training camp. His friend , Alexis, who would fight many battles alongside him in the future, came running to him, his spear in hand. "Why aren't you dead yet?' he asked with a tilt of his head "Why would I be dead?", Raka replied., to which Alexis responded, by stabbing him through the heart. "Die traitor", Alexis said, as Rake looked at him incredulously, while spitting blood.  Once again he was flailing wildly in the river. He managed to get to the shore, coughing. He had just gotten his breath back when something pushed him back again. Again he saw his kin die, his city burn. Worst of all, they looked at him as if his very existence had caused them untold suffering. Every time they blamed him. Again and again, he would be pushed back underwater, and again and again he would come back up. " Please ..", he begged, to whatever being was pushing him in. He was pushed in again. He came back up , "Stop", he begged again. Once again he was pushed in. Once again, he suffered. Until..... Everyone blamed him, why? He hadn't been able to do anything. That wasn't his fault. This angered him. He could do nothing, yet they blamed him. WHAT COULD I DO!! WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO!! WHY BLAME ME!! His mother came out once more, she came running towards him. " You're a failure", she told him.  "So what?', Raka asked, laughing. His mother looked surprised, and soon after, she died. Raka kept laughing This happened many more times, until once again..... His mother came out once more, she came running towards him , " You're a failure", she said. Raka ,enraged, grabbed her neck with his hand and lifted her up. "SO WHAT?", he asked. He tightened his hand around her neck and twisted it sharply to the side. With a loud c***k, his mother's body went limp. He tossed her dead body aside and walked into the house.  Once again, he surfaced , but this time, he was smiling. This time, he willingly went back under. Once again , he faced his old friend.  "Die traitor", Alexis screamed , stabbing his spear forward. Raka easily side-stepped the spear and kicked his knees from behind. He grabbed his friend's spear , and stabbed him through the chest with it. He looked at his dying friend, a s******c glint in his eyes, and then, he threw his head back , and laughed. He laughed a laugh of a man that was fully satisfied and happy. He came up once again, this time, he got out of the riverbed and walked into the the open meadow. " Is that all you have?" He challenged. Whatever being had pushed him, would have hell to pay.  "I'm impressed", a voice came from behind him. He turned around to look and saw a monster floating in the air, sort of like a ghost, expect that this being was gray and had sharp claws. The being tilted his head, as if studying him.  "No one has come out of the River Cocytus whole.", the being said. " What the hell are you", Raka asked. "I am a lesser daimon, and I am hungryyy" , the beast replied.  Raka had a smile on his face. " Then come, earn your meal", he told the demon, holding out the rock he used as a weapon, a dangerous glint in his eyes.  x---------------------------------x--------------------------------------------x----------------------------x-----------------------------x Hey guys, I'm a aspiring new author.
