30 The BreakthroughThe two-seater microlight flew serenely over Quadrant 330 piloted by Michael White with Hanson relaxing in the rear cockpit. The communications mast was only partially visible over the treetops and just beyond it the small landing strip came into view as White slowed the aircraft ready to land. The surrounding landscape was green as far as the eye could see - the brown scab now healed with a luxuriant carpet of trees and plants. As the two men gently landed, they observed Ricard emerge from the forest edge driving a battered Humvee. The microlight taxied to one end of the landing strip and turned to face the length of grassy runway in anticipation of a subsequent take off.
