33 Back home after her stay in Wellington, Cissie felt rosier. Even Elenora had cheered up in the company of Dorothy. That Moncrieff woman really was outrageous. She’d taken them shopping for lingerie, of all things, to prepare for their husbands’ homecoming. ‘What? Do you think they’ll be interested in a new hat or pair of shoes when they see us? No! I know what my John will want, granted after a good sleep. Fourteen hours flying will probably have tired him out a little.’ Dorothy had smirked, before kicking the dressing room door shut with a flourish.
