Dorothy grabbed Cissie and squeezed her into a tight embrace. ‘Oh, thank goodness you are here! I’m going quite out of my mind with all this interminable waiting. You will certainly help cheer me up.’
‘I was actually hoping you would be the one to cheer me up,’ Cissie murmured into her shoulder.
Arch beamed, his arms laden with Cissie’s suitcases. ‘There now, ladies. There is nothing to worry about. From all accounts everything appears to be coming along famously. First clear day and they will be off and on their way home to you.’
‘Goodness, Cissie, you have certainly come prepared.’ Dorothy said and ushered them both inside. ‘Put the bags down in the spare room, Arch. Just down the passage and on your right.’ She raised her hand and pointed in the right direction.
