Frank knew better than most how important advancements in machinery and communication were to the people living in the dominion. He could also see that his own tendency to make rash decisions ran deep in his son. George had assured him that his only job in Australia was to help assemble the plane, and attend fund-committee meetings until then. Frank didn’t doubt George’s flying ability. Sheer pig-headedness got George back in the cockpit after the crash that robbed him of his leg.
