Light now made it her mission to keep Flare away from Blake no matter what. Sometimes that meant butting heads with his senior, Mayhem, but that didn't matter. Sure, the guy would threaten to brand her without blinking, but she was only doing her job. Her job was protecting Blake, and if locking Flare in his bedroom meant just that, so be it.
Blake's curiosity only increased more and more each church morning. Dipping Flare into the holy water would make the stained windows of the church glow. Even on darker, more cloudier mornings, the images on the window shone like the sun and Blake was positive it was a good sign. If there was a bright side in any of this, it meant Blake was more enthusiastic in going to church, which was somewhat nice. Even if it was for a very unholy reason.
After another unsuccessful attempt at waking the imp, Blake came home sulking on the couch. Light popped out on his shoulder and suggested the same thing she always has "Just let it go. He clearly doesn't want to be disturbed."
"No." Was all he said, keeping his teary pout.
"It's been three weeks. Maybe he's trying to let you know he doesn't want to be disturbed."
"No."
"Blake."
"No."
"Perhaps we've made the water bad because we put him in it so many times." A blue, human-sized racoon suggested from the other side of the couch. Blake simply shrugged at him, fiddling with the snoring man between his fingers. Tobias and Light exchanged looks before the angel jumped on the racoon's shoulder for a private talk.
"This simply cannot go on. We need to end Blake's obsession with this demon."
"I get that Light. But the boy's stubborn."
"You're telling me."
"I think the only way to end this obsession is to help him satisfy it. And luckily for you, I have an idea on how to do that."
"Oh do you? This oughta be interesting."
"Oh have faith L. This WILL be interesting."
The raccoon jumped over to Blake with his big, buck-toothed smile. "Blake! My pal! Have I got a plan for you!"
"I'm not interested in visiting Harretland right now, Toby."
"No, not that. This plan involves that." He said pointing a finger to Flare.
Blake raised an eyebrow. "What plan?"
"Alright, everyone listen up!" Tobias placed Light back on Blake's shoulder and began to explain.
"We've tried every morning church right? Why not the evening one where it's dark? We could sneak out to church and use the holy water at the ALTER this time! That's the purest form of holy water there is! One that's been touched by the priest himself!"
"But how am I gonna get to the alter if the priest and everyone are there?" Blake asked, still doubtful yet more intrigued in his friend's plan.
"Sneak in after the church is done. The priest should leave the water out and go to the back like he does every church. This is our one chance, c'mon!"
"Hmm..."
"No." Light decided "That's too much sneaking around and lying. Plus your parents, they won't be happy you were out so late."
Blake huffed and rolled his eyes "I should've known you wouldn't be on board with this."
"You're darn right I'm not!"
"I'm still doing it." Blake stuck his tongue out at the shoulder-sized woman
"Blake-" She was interrupted by Tobias taking her and pushing her into his tin can top hat
"Let's prepare!" He said joyfully.

It was now nine o'clock. His sister's were asleep an hour ago and his parent's were in their room chatting. Blake pretended to fall asleep first. But now here he was wearing his favorite dark blue hoodie with red and blue striped sleeves. He wore black trousers and comfy hand-me-down sneakers from his cousins. In his bindle was a torch, a whistle, a sandwich and a water bottle. Tobias popped out in the corner of his room wearing a tinfoil stealth uniform and tin can goggles with cling-film as lenses. "Why are you packing a whistle?"
"Just in case." Blake said. He heard a familiar popping sound by his shoulder and groaned.
"I'm not here to change your mind. I'm here to protect both of you when something goes wrong."
"You mean IF something goes wrong, right?" Blake asked
"I said what I said."
The front door had its key in the hole. Light hopped up and twisted it, and very quietly, the three snuck out and shut the door. Hesitation hit Blake like the cold night air. Tobias handled a map at the end of the driveway. "C'mon, you know the way to church right?"
"Of course."
"Then why are you just standing there? Let's go!"
"If you don't want to anymore it's fine," Light said "I promise I won't say I told you so."
Blake shook off his fear quickly at the thought of his angel being right. "You won't be saying 'I told you so' at all!" And with that he raced off beside his friend toward the starry night sky.

The walk was scary, Blake never had to cross the road without holding hands with one of his family members before. But he had to as a group of weird stumbling adults kept asking him questions like "Where's your mama? I just wanna see her, that's all." Light advised they cross as soon as she saw them.
Eventually, they made it to the church. Blake glanced down at the demon curled up in his hand. Now is their last option to find out who this guy was. Looking back up at the building, he'd never felt smaller than he did right now. Swallowing his doubts, he called for his vermin friend "Toby, you ready to awaken a demon?"
"NO!" Blake and Light turned around to find a shaking Tobias at the steps of the cathedral. "I didn't think we would come this far! I really didn't! You guys can go in, I'm staying out here!"
"Oh come on! This was all your idea!"
"And what a bad idea it was!"
"You should follow your friend." Light said. Blake gave her and Tobias a dirty look. He was doing this, with friends, or without them. "Wait out here, Toby, I'll be back."
The church was empty, but the lights were on along with a few lit candles on either side of the alter. Blake walked up the aisle, turning back a few times hoping Tobias changed his mind. Light tugged at his ear. "It'll be fine. Nobody's here. Let's just get this over with."
Blake brought out the demon and rubbed his shoulder gently. The bowl of holy water was there, it looked so much more clearer than the water at the entrance and exit. He took a deep breath and placed the demon in the bowl, swirling the water around with his finger. Nothing happened. The windows didn't even glow. Blake sighed, "I give up."
"You do?" Light said, masking her happiness
"Yeah. This guy is just asleep or something and there's nothing I can do to wake him up. Light, are you SURE you can't sleeping beauty him awake?"
"I'm sure Blake. Sorry."
All of a sudden, the windows glowed brighter than any other day at church. Light pointed up at a shadow covering the bright images of the stained glass. Blake yelled out at the blob, that seemingly circled them by passing through one window to the other. It began saying things like "worthless, shameful, useless" over and over, the chanting getting louder the more he surrounded them.
Light and Blake watched cautiously as the blob of darkness continued moving swiftly from glass to glass, cackling and taunting them. Not saying anything but those words and the giggles that echoed through the whole church. Blake glanced down at the small demon, gently floating in the pool of holy water "I don't get it, why isn't he awake. And who - WHAT is that thing?!"
"I don't know, just stay calm. He can't seem to leave the windows." Light said, silently freaking out herself. She should have tried harder at convincing Blake to stay home.
The bizarre figure in the window suddenly screamed, spreading it's form across all the windows and tinting them with its blackness. The darkness stretched across the ceiling, consuming the chandelier lights keeping the church bright. The only thing lighting the church now were the candles by the alter. But with an abrupt gust of wind they were gone too. The toddler shivered in his place, thinking things couldn't get any worse. A chilling whisper appeared in his ear. "Now it's mine."
Blake stayed completely still, hoping to be invisible in the darkness. The shadow didn't touch him though, and within a few moments the chandeliers let light all around again. The boy looked around the church, baffled as to what happened. "Did I awaken a different demon?"
Light looked down at the bowl and gasped. The toddler followed her gaze and copied her reaction. The bowl was empty. Both the holy water and the demon had vanished.
Just then Blake's mother burst into the house of God "Blake, just WHAT do you think you're doing here?" His mother said, steamed.
"He's gone!" Blake yelled out, running to cling to his mum. "He's gone! He's gone mum he's gone away!"
Andrea ignored her son and picked him up, tuning out his cries. "Blake, you are going in the car and you are going to explain yourself NOW!"
