The Attack

Jinx struck without warning. His blob-like form became some what of a lightning bolt as it jutted into the ground. Quakes and cracks roamed the scene as Blessed scooped Blake up and carried him away from the temple, leaving Light alone on the walls. The green and black monster already started seeping out of the earth, so the angel had to act fast. When Jinx gained a regular, floating octopus form (if you can call that regular) he inspected the petrified statues of his collection, knowing Light would be hidden there. The girl covered her tracks well though, as she hid behind both an angel and a demon. Jinx floated by and didn't take a second glance at her spot, allowing her to breathe in relief. Then she noticed something. The pair she used as cover were wearing Victorian clothing of some sort. Yes - these would be the type of clothes in the Victorian era of human civilization Light read about in a history book. Goodness, she thought These consciences really have been here for centuries. How could a human forget them for so long? She thought of asking Blessed, but she seemed busy, battling Jinx in the sky and surprisingly losing. Blessed was the strongest angel Light knew. You'd have to be SERIOUSLY skilled to even come close to her level. "Stop gawking, Blight!" Mayhem knocked over several demons as he skimmed the wall for his junior. "Help me find that lazy bastard!" Light didn't like Mayhem or his crude language, but the thought of getting him even slightly annoyed made her a nervous wreck. She ran across the wall, checking demon's faces for one with his eyes closed. She noticed Blake over by a tree, looking in awe at the fight in the air between Blessed and Jinx. "Blake get away from there!" She called "Go someplace safer, this is dangerous!" The child saw the trail of gold and glanced at the hill it led to. He faced his angel again, pointing at the hill and mouthed "Up there?" She nodded "There is fine just leave before you get hurt." He obliged and jogged toward the dust trail, harrowingly avoiding an energy blast thrown from the sky. Light looked up to see Blessed pinned against a palm tree "Sorry!" She called before striking the omen in the face "I missed." The angel resumed her search for Flare. Blake couldn't help but steal a few glances back at the battle as he traveled up the hill. The golden trail of dust took the toddler up the hill to the mythical pod. It must've acted like a bed for the omen with how comfortable it looked. He turned back to see Jinx and Blessed neck in neck with their fight. Every energy blast Blessed threw at him, Jinx would dodge swiftly. Then any time he got close enough she'd fly back or distract him with some magical mist that temporarily blinded him. Mayhem and Light were still looking for Flare around the temple. Light wished there was a way to help all these people, perhaps they could sign out who their senior was with only their eyes and she'd call them? Mayhem shrugged it off. "The world went on without them," he said "Their humans are probably long dead too." "Now don't say that!" Light said "Look at them! How dusty and old they are. They've no place to go back to. This is for the best." The angel wondered if the frozen demons and angels could hear them talking. A part of her hoped not if it meant they heard Mayhem call them worthless and too much hassle saving. She suddenly tripped over a demon tail that you'd have no idea who it belonged to. "I found Flare!" Light announced. Mayhem came over and plucked the demon up by his tail. "Okay buddy. Naptime's over. You're coming back with me." he wriggled the demon with his fingers, Flare stayed snoring. "Oh come on! What's it gonna take for you to wake up!" "Maybe less violence?" Light shut her mouth when those fiery, murderous eyes glued to her again. Blake was having a less stressful time, wandering the pod of the omen and looking up at him and Blessed battling every now and again. At some points Jinx looked weary and even glitched a few times. Blake let out a silent 'yes' when it happened again. Jinx spread his form out like slime and encased Blessed, making her drop from the sky. The toddler's eyes widened as the shadow just laughed and wrapped all around her, suffocating her. Then, a blue ray shot out from the blob, followed by another and another. Jinx unwrapped himself from Blessed and examined the new holes in his form. "How dare you!" He shouted "Do you have any sort of clue as to how long that naturally regenerates?!" "Hopefully a really long time?" Blessed estimated. She looked down at the temple and back at the omen "But since we have the time I've been meaning to ask you. Why all the frozen shoulder entities? Are you just a freak that likes live antiques in his home?" "YES!" Jinx snapped "I'm a very artsy person, Blessed! My story has been around for centuries everyone should know that!" "Whatever. Your story is ending TODAY!" "Heck yeah it is!" Blake couldn't help but yell from the pod. The two stared at the kid with shock. Blessed began signaling for Blake to come out of the pod, but it was too late. Jinx's eyes went from green to red as he unleashed a violent blast on the angel, not only knocking her out of the sky, but also pretty far away. Jinx turned back to Blake "THAT. IS. MY POD." "Aagh!" Blake ducked as the swarming form crashed into the pod with him. The toddler and the omen played chase in circles around the main bed of the pod. Jinx tried stretching his form, but the burning holes held him back. Blake attempted to escape out the door, but Jinx floated in front of him. He determined to keep Blake from leaving. The boy climbed on the bed and blew a raspberry. "You little-" Jinx floated on the bed too "This is MY recharging pod! It's sacred! And you, you can't just come in here how you please!" "I wouldn't have been in here in the first place if you didn't take my demon!" "Took it? You gave him to me!" "Accidentally!" "Still did it!" The bickering pair were too pre-occupied to notice the bed they were standing on began glowing. Electricity flowed through the pair and Jinx's holes began filling up again. With his raging red eyes, he threw a punch at Blake. The boy took it like a champ and proceeded to grab Jinx by the face. He used both hands to bring Jinx close, the pod was really charging up now. Jinx screamed as Blake suddenly felt really different, like he was on a sugar high after too many jawbreakers. Then he realized why. Earlier Blessed or Mayhem had mentioned omen's powers being absorbed by demons, angels and even humans. He looked at his palms. The creases in the center turned a chilling black as Jinx practically vacuumed into him. Even Light and Mayhem noticed from the temple. The pod was surging with black and green and red energy. The pair exchanged a glance and silently agreed to check up on the boy. Light hopped up on Mayhem's shoulder as he flew over to the pod. He stood far back in risk of getting electrocuted, or far worse. Blessed returned for the hard hitting she took and watched in worry as the pod died down and the door flung open by itself. Blake walked - no FLOATED out, his arms outstretched as green mist exuded from his palms. "Blake?" Light asked "Are you okay?" Blake didn't answer. His eyes were shining green, and he had no idea what to do with this new...power? It felt so odd to say. "He absorbed the omen," Blessed grumbled while massaging her eyebrows "WHY did you tell him to wait in the pod?" "I thought you'd distract Jinx!" Light argued defensively. "And what a terrific job she did of that!" Mayhem snarked, earing him bullet pupils from Blessed. Light asked again "Blake? It's me Light. Are you okay?" All the energy coming from Blake's palms went from calm mist to raging energy. The boy raised his arms up to the sky and let out a double-layered scream, one with his voice and another - more deeper - voice screaming with him. The energy cultivated formed a massive power ball above the four and only expanded from there. The green blast engulfed everything. Blake, the angels and demons on the temple wall, the whole ISLAND had just vanished for those few moments. When Blake opened his eyes again he was met with Light's face right up against him, trying to wake him up. "Light?" He asked. The angel smiled. "Hello Blake." "What happened?" "You've been out for a while, couple hours maybe. But you managed to save everyone." "What are you talking about?" "Come on to the temple and we'll show you." Shoulder-sized angels and demons alike woke up from their catatonic shock. All of them were very confused but Blessed and Mayhem gathered each of their own respectfully and make-shifted portals to bring them home. While they did that, Light explained the best she could to Blake about how he possesses the omen powers and Jinx as a whole now. "So like, I have powers now?" he asked once she was finished. "Pretty much, yeah." "Cool." "Is that really your only take away from all this?" "Yup. I can't believe I wanted to go trick-or-treating earlier. HA, those guys are the ones who missed out." "It's 2am, did you know?" "Wow really? I've never stayed up this late before!" "Enjoy it, because I won't let this happen again." "Aww, wait what about all the frozen people?" "Using your new powers, you unfroze them. Blessed and Mayhem are taking them home right now. They should be back-" Two portals opened and the seniors stepped through. The others joined them and they all took a look around the island. "What a weird night." Blake concluded. The other three agreed. Mayhem glanced at a final sleeping demon on the wall. He went over and crouched by him. Light, Blessed and Blake followed his actions. "Who's doing the honors?" Mayhem asked. Blake excitedly raised his hand before gently poking Flare in back. "Wake up." He whispered. For the first time ever Flare opened his violet purple eyes and scanned his surroundings. He sat up and stretched with a yawn. "Good morning," he croaked out before snapping out of his morning state and gawking at the three weirdos watching him sleep. "Wait a minute, who are all of you?" THE END. BUT NOT REALLY...
