Destruction Is Near

1003 Words
Lucas remained unconscious for several days, spending most of that dreaming of Skylar. Of watching her run through the woods. The leaves falling through her hair. Wondering what it would be like spending many days thinking about what their life would be if they were able to be together. He couldn't even remember what had happened while they were locking eyes, but all he could think about was how quickly he had begun to be engulfed in flames after the mating bond set in between the two of them. He sat up quickly gasping for breath. He looked around and was surrounded by the elders apart from their pack. His uncle came forward first. Grabbing a wet cloth that felt as cold as ice, maybe even colder than that, but god it felt good. He felt as if his body was burning, but he saw something that looked like ice that was on his feet. He felt the heaviness of the blankets on him as he slowly started to sit up to be at eye level with his uncle. Apollo said,“ Hey, bud." Welcome back to earth. "How are you feeling kiddo?" Lucas tried to speak but could not get a word out and just air came out. His father gave him some moon water and Lucas almost choked, chugging it down too fast. Lucas looked around,“ Where is she?" What is going on? "Are the little ones fine?” His dad grabbed his shoulder. He spoke softly,“ Everyone’s okay." Our pack is fine. "Your brother is safe playing outside. "We’ll get him in a little bit okay. You need to rest. You almost died by those blood demons. Lucas looked down. No. He didn’t. At least not her. She couldn’t, right? Doesn’t she feel the same? Didn’t she feel it? But he could say it, not yet. If he did, his father would hate him. This happened before. They were killed. Apollo winked at him and started to usher everyone out. Apollo said, “Alright, everyone let the boy drink his water and relax.” Brother went. Check on the property and make sure they got pushed back. "We should be fine here, okay.” He sat down in the chair closest to him. Lucas looked at him, “I’m fine if you need to go, okay uncle”. "I will be fine.” Lucas drank another cup full. Apollo watched him as Lucas started to cough up the water. Apollo smiled, “Lucas, my boy, I know about the girl.” She’s your mate.” Lucas froze, choking up their special water to help with the healing process. But Apollo always had his back, thankful. He knew he could trust him, but could he really, especially now. Lucas looked up at him and Apollo handed him a cup of something red, it was blood. Lucas tried to throw it, but Apollo nodded to him, ushering him to drink it. Lucas did as Apollo asked of him and it tasted great. Lucas finishing began to feel his heart racing. Apollo paused and grabbed his hand, "Hey, it's fine." I want to say a word. At least not yet. We don't know just yet what we are dealing with, so there's nothing to say just yet, right? He sighed. "As for the girl, your new mate, if she is killed you will feel all that pain." All that loneliness. If she were to die of some diease or something natural itself. Well, that would be different. That is how the Earth keeps us in balance. You will be able to mate again, seeing as your mate's bond was cut short, but it will be different the following time. "I would know." Apollo changed his sitting style, not glancing away from Lucas but only to look away a little bit to look at the door. Lucas looked over at Apollo trying to drink the water again and this time it worked. He felt more power in his hand. So much more strength. He knew he could take the Alpha spot in his pack. His own pack if he has to. He sighed. Lucas finally spoke, "What are you talking about, Uncle?" I truly have no clue what to do now. To be honest, I'm a little scared. I can hurt her, but what if I have to? Father will not be happy about this. Apollo just smiled, "Your father wants to know about this." I wanted to let him hurt her. As of now, we want to be charging into enemy territory as much as we can be due to their new powers and vice versa. As for the girl, don't worry, I want to let you two meet the same fate that I had all those years ago. "I want to let what happened to Gwen happen to Skylar, okay?" Lucas looked confused. He heard the stories but no one ever confirmed it or even spoke about whom that horrible day happened to. No one would tell or even really talk about it other than to just warn the young boys to stay away from the vampires and sometimes even the witches. Apollo looked at him even more seriously this time before he spoke, "Yes, I know what you're thinking." Yes, it was my mate that killed my pack all those years ago, before you were even a thought, including your mother, my boy. Before Lucas could say anything, a few of the other wolves came in and injected him with something. As he started to pass out again, he saw his father and uncle talking, well, more like arguing over something. Probably what was happening with Lucas. His dad was harsh, but he knew he just wanted to take care of him the best he could, right? He thought as he slowly fell asleep, as was somehow with Skylar. That beautiful wonderfully probably nice girl. But all he knew was her, as was the woman in the woods.
