Skylar finally woke up after what felt like months. She gasped and tried to stand up but her body was so weak. Skylar started to yell, “No run! Fire, Fire, you need to go!” She was grabbed by her father quickly to which he jumped back and grabbed his hands. She looked around her to notice it was just her father. He started to sit on her bed when her door opened softly. It was the scientist, the one who was in charge of creating the next best weapon helping to finish this war for good. He smiled and pulled up a chair. He looked at her, “Hey how are you feeling kiddo? Do you remember anything?” Skylar looked down and remembered it all. The boy the water. The pain of her body cracked and breaking. The boy across the ways almost burning alive but not moving. She started to have flashes of the final sight before everything went dark. Watching that boy who she hopes was okay. Her father looked frightened, “Stay in bed, we need the doctor to look at you before you can try to move okay. ” He stepped back so the scientist could start to look at me. She sighed. She felt like a lab rat now. Great she thought. This is what my life will be like now. The scientist started to checked her out first, taking vitals, some blood samples that they could. She felt as if she was going to pass out again. She watched them along with her father take everything out of her room down the hall and heated a door shut. She played back and looked at the ceiling. She started to feel warmed which wasn’t normal. Was it? She felt faint but moist? Was this sweat? That’s not possible. She has been designed to run very cold, as if she was a complete vampire. She cants be hot, especially hot enough to sweat. She could hear faint whispering until her father started to yell. Then there was the smashing of appliances and furniture like he always does when he gets mad then a door slamming and shattering. Why mother choose glass doors for this house, I’ll never know she thought. She stood up and walked down the stairs slowly taking her time trying to regain her strength. Charolette helped her sit down. “ Hey baby you feeling any better?” She smiled as if she wasn’t scared but she could see it in her eyes. Her whole face was friegthen but by what. She smiled softly with the little bit of energy she had, “Yeah, totally but what’s wrong with me? What happened? That boy is he okay? Is he safe?” She panicked again. Over that boy she had only seen once. Why? Charolette looked puzzled, she thought for a minute before she spoke, “What do you remember sweetie? Of that day in the forest?” She looked around to make sure no one as overhearing our conversation but why? Skylar’s face went from confused to complete fear, “How long was I out?” She tried to follow her mothers’ eyes, but she couldn’t quite focus just that well yet. Charolette spoke, “It’s been almost a week. Your body had to heal, it was like ice cracking, we thought we lost you. It took almost a day just for your legs to completely reattach. Then suddenly, your body temperature started rising. Weve tried ice baths, sticking ice all over you. Even stuck you in a freezer for a couple hours. Sometimes it worked, other times you melted everything in just minutes or hours. We can’t figure out what’s going on with you. That boy is a wolf, that we know. We think he is part of their new forces to attack. It seems he looked at you and they deployed something. Your father is sure of it, but I don’t know. He had a few other kids with him. Just after you fainted, he shifted it was horrible. There was so much blood and fire we don’t know what happened to him. Skylar got up quickly and everything started to get fuzzy again. Wolf? Fire? Weapon? What did he do to her? Was it after she fainted? Is she going to die? Charolette grabbed her with a couple dish rags, “Sweetie you need to sit down now. Until we figure out what exactly is happening, we can’t let you take too many risks. One wrong move and that could be it. Don’t worry, Mark and Josephine are with your grandparents for a little while until we know what we’re fighting against.” Skylar relaxed a little and sunk into the couch even more so. At least they are safe somewhere. For how long though the question is. She felt as if she was cooling down finally. But that poor boy must be in so much pain. But why does she care so much? Is he thinking of her too? Theres so many questions that she needs to get answered but how? Finally, her father came back inside with one of the lead scientists that had been working with their family for decades. He sat right across from her and her parents with a big yellow folder. Henry spoke softly as if this was a secret, “Okay we got some information as best as we could. It looks to be an air born virus. It was developed enough to kill Skylar thankfully. Those idiots don’t know what they are doing. It should go away within the next couple of hours. What they tried to design is something that attacked the venom in your body and revert you back to fully human. That’s why she started to break. It is supposed to rip you apart from the inside out until you are ash, hence the temperature rises. It’s something they designed to make you kill yourself in such a way you can’t fight back. We don’t know how to fight it or what causes it. I know this is a lot to take in but we’re working on it. You just can’t go back out there. There isn’t a guarantee that we can save you or anyone else that’s apart of your group if it happens again. Hello?” He waved his hand in front of her face but she just stayed there frozen. She spaced out staring at the wall trying to understand everything he was saying but very few words were coming through to her brain as she began to pass out only thinking of that boys’ face, turning so pale just as she passed out before.
