Hello....
“What would you like, ma'am?”
She was sitting in the cafe shop for her tea ☕.
“Can I have tea, please?”
“Hey Manal, how are you?”
Manal was sitting in her seat, waiting for her cup of tea.
Manal: “Don't ask. I didn't have my tea in the morning, and my head is bursting with pain.”
Shahmir: “How can someone be so addicted to tea? I can't believe it.”
“Then don't believe it and get the hell out of here. Don't ruin my mood.”
“Okay, okay. I'm not making it difficult for you and won't ruin your mood, but don't you think tea on an empty stomach isn't good? Why don't we order some sandwiches too? Would you like something?”
(Manal spoke very sweetly.)
“Yes, I would like to have something.”
“What would you like?”
Manal: “Hahaha, a piece of mind. Can you please get out of here...”
“Come on, gurllll.” He was trying to irritate Manal.
“We are good friends. We can have tea together.”
“Don't worry, I know I'm handsome, but that doesn't mean I'll fall for you. We can only be friends. Having tea together won't affect you...”
Manal: “Yeah, but I don't like having tea with a panda 🐼.”
“What??” He was staring at her. “Manal, from which angle do I look like a panda to you?”
Manal: “And from which angle do you not look like a panda?”
Shahmir: “Hahaha, even if I’m a panda, you are not a heroine yourself.” He stuck his tongue out to tease her.
Manal: “Shut up, Shahmir.”
Shahmir: “Okay, I’m shutting up...” and then he laughed again.
“What happened? Why are you so serious today?”
“Nothing. I just have a headache. I’ll take my tea and it’ll be fine.”
Shahmir: “Come on, I’ve been your friend for many years now. I know you enough to understand your mood. Something must have happened, so tell me.”
(Manal took a deep breath, put her head on the table, and spoke again after lifting it.)
“My mother wants me to get married.”
“So? Don’t you like him?”
“It’s not that...”
“Then what is it?” Shahmir was trying to understand the issue.
And she said, “I’m not ready for this relationship, Shahmir. I don’t know how to stop my mother.”
“You are already a grown-up girl, so just tell your mom you don’t want to get married.”
(She looked at him with questioning and angry eyes filled with helplessness.)
“As if she would just happily agree with me.”
“Okay, don’t be sad.”
“The tea is here, ma’am.”
Manal took her tea while Shahmir was busy eating his food. She was sipping her tea slowly and didn’t know what she was thinking about.
“Anyway, I need to get back to work. See you later.”
She said bye to Shahmir and left for the hospital. She was a surgeon 😷 and was the best surgeon there. She was 26 years old and pretty enough to outshine any woman.
After finishing her work, she left for home.
The whole family (mother, father, and two brothers) was sitting at the table for dinner.
Mom: “Manal, how is your workplace? You are not getting too tired there, right?”
“Mom, my work is going well.”
Mom: “If you feel anything wrong, just do as you think is right. You don’t have to listen to your senior doctors all the time.”
“Mom, he is my team leader.”
Father: “Okay, okay, let her eat in peace.”
Mom: “You are talking as if I’m stopping her from eating.”
“Okay, okay, I’m sorry.” Her father was in love with his wife, of course.
Mom: “Oh yes, I just forgot... What about the blind date I fixed for you? You are going, right?”
“Mom, please, can you not talk about that?”
Mom: “If I will not talk about it, then who will? You are not young anymore. You’ll already be 27 in two months.”
“Come on, Mom, please...” (She was too tired to even talk about it.) Then she left her dinner. “I’m full. I’ll be in my room.”
Hannan (her elder brother): “Hey, at least finish your dinner.”
She didn’t say anything and left for her room.
Later, her brother brought some snacks to her room. He knocked on the door, and she let him in.
“Hey brother, do you need anything?”
“Why? Can’t I talk to my little girl?”
“Come on, bro, I’m not a little girl anymore.”
“Then why are you still stuck in your past?”
“He won’t be coming back. You guys broke up six to seven years ago.”
(She was feeling helpless.)
“Bhaiya, at least you should understand me... I know we broke up, but I’m not ready for this relationship.”
Hannan: “Okay, listen to me. You also know you can’t escape Mom, so just go on the blind date and then tell Mom you didn’t like him. At least give it a try. And I personally know him. Sufyan is a good person.”
(She tiredly held her head while setting her messy hair.)
“Yeah, okay. I got it. I’ll be there, Bhaiya. You don’t worry.”
“Okay, now go to bed and take some rest ❤️”
She understood, and she had a feeling that no one could understand her. Her brother left the room, and she opened the drawer and took out some old memories. She was holding her ex’s photo frame when her mom entered the room. Seeing her holding the photo, her mom frowned. She never liked her ex, and she was also the reason for their breakup.
Manal was just sitting there feeling down when her mother came to her.
Mom: “Why do you need to be so stubborn? You are disappointing me.”
Manal’s eyes were full of questions and helplessness, as if she was asking for some care and love from her.
But the truth was that she really loved her mother too. That was the reason she never denied anything her mom said.
“Mom, can I just live for myself once?”
She wanted to say that to her mom, but she tightened her lips instead.
“Mum, do you need anything?”
Her mom took the photo frame from her hand.
“Zaveyaar (her ex) was never good enough for you. I have set the blind date for you on Saturday evening. Have dinner with Kavish (blind date) and get to know each other.”
She left Kavish’s photo on the table near her and left the room.
The next day, when Manal was going out, she saw Zaveyaar’s photo in the trash can, torn into pieces.
At first, she stopped to pick up all the pieces, but then she told herself,
“Leave it, Manal. You don’t deserve him... You couldn’t stand for your love when he needed you the most. What right do you have now?”
She smiled with teary eyes and left. Her mom was watching her from a distance. Sikander (her dad) was also there.
Sikander to Suhana (her mother): “Don’t you think you are being too harsh on her?”
Suhana: “Come on, dear hubby, you know I never liked Zaveyaar. And it’s been seven years. She needs to move on. How long is she going to stay stuck in her past? And don’t worry, Kavish is such a good kid. They will make a perfect couple. And he comes from a good family and background. Manal will live a good life.”
“Good morning, doctor.”
Manal’s colleagues were greeting her while she was absent-minded.
“What happened, girl? You weren’t picking up the calls.”
Her friends entered her cabin.
Manal: “What are you all doing here?”
Shahmir: “I’m here to talk to you...”
“But I’m busy.”
“Come on, girl...”
Saaisha was there, and Manal had a shocked reaction.
“You too??”
Then Zifra also came out of nowhere.
“Hi, dude...”
“This is my workplace, guys...”
“And we are your friends. You haven’t been picking up your phone. We need to talk, girl,” Saaisha said while sitting down.
Manal was trying to kick them out because other patients were waiting outside.
“You guys had a fake appointment while my patients are waiting. Now are you going or not?”
“Okay, okay boss, we are going. But you have to be present at our usual place, okay?”
“Okay, okay... now get out. I can’t believe you guys took a fake appointment just to talk to me. Hurry up and get out.”
Manal fixed her hair properly and took a deep breath, then asked the nurse to send the patient in by number.
After work, she went to their clubhouse. This was the place where they all used to come to discuss things or have parties. No other person could come there. They were childhood friends.
“What do you want to have?”
Manal: “A lemonade will be enough.”
Shahmir was standing near the table and brought her a glass of lemonade.
Saaisha: “Let’s come to the point. I checked. Kavish is actually a good person. He has no bad habits... kind of handsome and rich too...”
Zifra: “No doubt her mom is matchmaking them. Do your families have any business deal?”
“I don’t think so.”
Manal left the glass and fell onto the sofa, suddenly crying dramatically.
“I really don’t want to get married... I can’t even run away... Can anyone give me an idea about how I can solve this issue?”
Zifra used to smoke cigarettes 🚬 and had a tomboy vibe.
“Why don’t you tell Kavish that you have no interest in men?”
“Shut up, Saaisha. You want to ruin my image.”
Shahmir ordered food.
“Okay girls, have something first. Maybe your minds will start working after eating.”
“You dumbo, sometimes I feel like your brain is connected to your stomach.”
Zifra and Shahmir were fighting cutely.
“Don’t know who will ever like you...”
“It’s alright. I have you... the best friend option.” He was teasing Zifra.
“I’ll kill you...”
“Can you guys please—”
“Okay, okay, sorry... You should eat something.”
When they all started eating, she suddenly said,
“I have a date...”
“What??” The three of them spoke at once. 😯
“Are you really going?”
Manal: “I can’t go against Mom, can I?”
And then her mother called her.
“Are you ready? Kavish will be on time, and you should also talk to him properly.”
Manal changed her clothes while her friends were watching her.
Shahmir: “Best of luck, girl... Maybe this time we really are going to have a brother-in-law.”
He was teasing her when Zifra picked up a piece of fried chicken 🍗and stuffed it into Shahmir’s mouth.
“Shut up, fatty.”
Manal arrived at the restaurant, where Kavish pulled the chair out for her. They ordered food, and it was served by the waiters.
“Why aren’t you eating, Manal?”
Manal couldn’t understand where to start, so she asked the waiter to bring her a cup of tea
