Dawn's fingers were paler than usual as he gripped the edge of his desk. His words were masked by a low, long growl from his throat. "Who allowed you to cross the border?"
Ashley sat on the couch in his office, reclined back, perhaps too comfortably. She scratched the side of her red thumbnail.
His vision was the same color as mine. Dark red.
“Don't let me through—I told him I was going to see my father." Ashley took a sniff. "That was only half true."
