Sapphire
The cold air echoed with the crunch of gravel. Sapphire cast a glance over at Shane, curious as to what he was thinking. He was deafeningly quiet, his face closed.
They'd been walking for about five minutes. Sapphire realized they were getting closer when the path began to curve. "We're nearly there." Her breath was coming out in puffs.
The sun was just setting in the distance, oranges and reds piercing the clear blue sky. Sapphire drew her jacket tighter around her as a cold breeze blew past them.
Sapphire was glad she decided to show her brother this spot when the lake came into view.
