Stacey is still shaking as the girls walk into the house. It took them over an hour to walk home. Stacey thought the walk would cool her off but it just made her more enraged. She kicked rocks and trash the whole way home mumbling to herself. Amanda kept quiet and just put one foot in front of the other with tears running down her face. The girls walk up to the house and Miss Betty throws open the door. Stacey stands shaking looking at her, but Miss Betty looks past her at Amanda.
“O child come here to me,” her voice breaks as she throws her arms out. Amanda burst into sobs as she runs past Stacey and into Miss Betty’s arms. Stacey’s rage drops to her stomach as it quickly turns to sorrow watching her best friend hurt so much.
