The philosophy class ended around nine thirty in the morning and I still have time left before I go to work so I decided to waste my remaining time doing something unusual.
First, I roamed around the whole university and all I did see was every students’ tired face and the professors who all had frowning faces.
‘It was a horrible sight to see.’
I remember that when a professor saw a student walking around carelessly, they would run an errand to them like buying things outside the campus or by carrying things. I know that since I was once a victim of that.
‘So… I left the campus.’
Now I'm standing outside the gate of my school being exposed under the heat of the sun.
‘What am I gonna do to kill some time?’
Tired of trying something, she decided to just go to her work. She arrived at the store at ten o’clock and her shift now is one o’clock in the noon.
“Asy? Why did you arrive early with such an ugly look?” An old looking guy with a feminine voice appeared just in front of her after she pulled the glass door of the convenience store.
“Boss? Uh, yeah.” Asylene touches his messy hair and tries to fix it as she continues to talk. “My class ended, and I have nothing to do.”
“Oh my gosh! You had the eye of the panda, Asylene! Didn't you get enough sleep?”
“Do I?” She tilts her head and proceeds to the locker room. “Boss, can I sleep in the locker room?”
“Yes Asy, I will let you know when your shift is time!”
“Thank you boss, you're a lifesaver.”
Her boss might have a big muscle and a masculinity looks, but it's a waste since her boss was a gay. Despite that, Asylene still likes her boss because he's kind and he pays his employees big too.
But even if her boss pays her well, Asylene still needs a lot of money for her apartment, food and extras. She was still struggling financially.

There are many customers in the store when It's nighttime and Asylene can handle that much trouble. As a cashier, Asylene’s work includes receiving payments and issuing receipts, gift-wrapping packages and keeping track of all cash and credit transactions.
“That’s twenty one and twenty cents. Cash or through online?” After she bundled the things one of the customers bought, she said in a professional way.
“Cash.” The customer said while giving her the money.
Asylene’s job as a cashier works just like that. But it may sound easy, there are things that only Asylene can handle in her work like:
“Minors aren't allowed to buy alcoholic drinks, child.” Asylene said to a child who was pretending to act like an adult in front of the counter.
“I told you miss, I’m nineteen years old!”
“Then where's your card? Or an ID?”
With Asylene’s sentence, the child gave up and went out of the store. But it didn't end there, the child returned back with makeup on his face.
‘So stubborn, I see.’
The child then goes to the counter once again with alcohol wrapped in his arms.
“Can I have your ID please?”
The child didn't bother to utter a word but he gave her an Identification card of a school.
“It’s fake.” Asylene sighs looking at him. “Look punk, I know you put on some makeup or whatever but you're fifteen years old aren't you?”
The child in front of her shakes her head.
“And I also know why you won't open your mouth. It's because you're the same kid from earlier right?”
The child’s eye became watery as she walked away from the store.
‘Why are they so desperate for alcoholic drinks anyway?’
I'm still seventeen so I haven't drunk any alcohol yet and I’m not planning to. Some teenage punk even tried to buy condoms from our store but nevertheless just like the previous one, I won't give them if they’re underage.

A tall young lad wearing a jacket with a hood covering his head opens the door. The young lad was looking around before he picked up and grabbed something from the food aisle.
When the young lad came nearer the counter, Asylene noticed that he was wearing shade sunglasses.
‘Is he a celebrity or something?’
Asylene proceeds to do her job. She wrapped all the things the young lad put on the desk.
“How old are you, sister?”
Asylene seems to be confused looking at him. Asylene looked at her back to clarify whether the young lad was talking to her or not.
Asylene pointed to herself. “Are you talking to me?”
“Yes.”
“Oh, It's my first time being called a sister here.” She talks then she continues to check the prices. “I’m seventeen.”
“That’s very young to work, sister.”
The young lad in front of her was left standing waiting for her to finish.
“Well, I needed to do it for a living. I need money, you see.”
“Money?” The young in front of her pulled something in his pocket. “I know something that would make you lots of money.” He said giving Asylene a business card with his name and number written on it.
“Your last name is Breahym?”
“Yes.”
“Actually, I need a part-time job, not a full time job.” Seeing his business card, Asylene already knew that the person he was talking to was either a worker at a high company or the owner.
“Oh! Your check is already done. Fifty four dollars please.”
The young lad gave her a bank card. It was her first time seeing a gold card being swiped in the store.
‘First time seeing it after my father left us.’
After swiping, the lad in front of her lifted his hood revealing his hair and face.
“For some reason, I need someone to pretend to be my sister.”
The young lad smiled in front of Asylene with his mouth being closed.
“How about it, sister?”
