Chapter 2
Monday
“Good to see you again, Annie,” Nathan told her when he looked up and saw her standing in his doorway at the Dallas office on Monday morning.
“You too,” she replied with a small smile as she entered and took a seat in one of his visitor’s chairs.
“So, what’s up?” he asked.
“I’m back,” she said simply. “I’m glad I took that time away, but now I need to get back to work. We have a killer to catch.”
“Agreed. In fact, Lizzie and I talked about a battle plan just yesterday afternoon.”
“I know. She told me last night.”
At Nathan’s puzzled look, Annie explained.
“Grace isn't back from that cruise yet, and I didn’t feel right staying over there without asking her first, so, I called Lizzie. I’m crashing at her and Donny’s house until I can figure something out.”
