Thursday
Sam trailed Bella Thomas again on Thursday morning, and this time was successful in following her to Charlie’s daycare. Once Bella left, Sam drove around the block and parked along the street so that the view to the back door of the daycare was unimpeded before unpacking the needed gear and settling in to wait.

The first phone call came around ten o’clock. Bella had only been home for about fifteen minutes after dropping Charlie off at daycare when the phone in Nathan’s home office began to ring. But because it was seldom used unless he was working from home, she frowned in confusion at first.
