HEWLETT'S POV
"Hewlett Cornel! What did you do?" my mom growled at me. I crossed my arms over my chest and looked away.
She’s scolding me in front of our school Guidance Counselor. Do you know why? This was the fifth school that I entered this year. She’s mad at me because I always had been kicked out in different schools.
My schoolmates are always bullying me because of my attitude. I used to stare at them even when they’re asking me. I always zipped my mouth. I do not talk to any of them because I do not like them. They’re just befriended with me because of money. I do not like talking to them because I do not want to.
“Mom, I just protected myself,” I replied. Every time that I ignored them, they are starting to bully me. They’re all thinking that I’m lonely, nerdy type or whatsoever.
The school Guidance Counselor tried to calm my mom. She’s just staring and listening to us for an hour because she can’t calm my mom down.
After a few minutes, my mother realized that she’s talking in a loud voice and I know that her throat is starting to ache. She then apologized to our Guidance Counselor before we left the school. My mom told me that I will not be going to school anymore. She told me that she will not go to enroll me again. I rolled my eyes.
“The hell I care,” I whispered.
I hate school. I hate the people around me.
As we arrived at our home, I immediately dropped my body on our soft sofa. My mom followed me and sat down in front of me. She then crossed her arms over her chest and starting to glare at me. I saw frustration and anger in her eyes.
"Hewlett! Listen to me, that was the fifth school you'd kicked out!" She almost yelled. I just rolled my eyes.
"I know, mom." She deeply sighed and closed her eyes. She shook her head maybe because of disbelief.
"You're not going to enroll. Not ever again!" She growled. She took a glance before she left me. She slammed the door and it created a loud noise.
I know she's mad. Yes, she is. What should they expect? Is it my fault for bullying me?
I don’t know but every time that they slapped me and I slapped them back, they’re fainting. One time, I smack the boy who tried to lock me in a janitor’s room and he almost died. His parents tried to file a case against me because of what I did to their son but I’m still a minor and my mom talked to them.
And since I was kicked out again, I'm sure I'll be grounded again. Out of frustration I quietly sneaked into the garden. I like going to our garden because it is quite peaceful.
I used to run down the wet green garden paths in the early morning. There was the delight I caught in seeing long straight rows of red, pink, and other colorful flowers, green plants, and grasses stretching away in the sun. The tall trunk of the tree in front of me caught my attention. Butterflies and colorful shining dust around the tree.
What was that all about?
I moved closer to the tree, which I could barely see through the blinding glitter. There has a door. My jaw fell as the tree became lighter and more gleaming.
What the h-ll?
That tree will never be able to shine. When I got closer, I fell down since the brightness was making the birthmark on my cheek hurt. When the door to the tree trunk suddenly opened, I was backing away. Because of the extreme brightness of the light streaming from the door, I could barely see it. I tried to stand up because of the force dragging me inside the door.
Okay? What’s going in here?
I was about to scream as the light-filled me as I entered the tree.
“Who are you?”
I slightly opened my eyes. My vision is blurred but gradually becoming clear.
“Where am I?” I whispered, asking myself not thinking that I couldn’t answer my question.
The surroundings are rich with trees and vibrant flowers, while many colorful butterflies flying around. I realized it wasn't our garden. The wind has a distinct chill about it. The surroundings are vibrant and unique in color. Silver dust will practically soar and spread in the air. Because of its brilliance, it felt like I was in a magical world. My gaze shifted in front of me.
Wait? What?!
I’m in front of a…
PALACE?!
“Human, who are you?” My eyes searched for the owner of the small but shrill voice I had heard.
My eyes widened and I recoiled in surprise. I wanted to scream but my mouth did not utter a single word. Fear and panic made my body stiffen. I froze to death. I was swallowed a few times.
No. This can't be!
No! This is not happening!
AM I DREAMING, RIGHT?!
I was unable to move and had forgotten to breathe. I was gradually running out of air. I'm having trouble breathing. I can’t speak. Seconds passed, my body continued to weaken, my eyes began to blurry and my vision went black.
