“This is so exciting! The princess is finally starting to accept you!” Marie practically screeched as she ran to the closet. Evidently she’d heard from the other maids about the princess’s soirée. Celeste had barely stepped through the door when the young girl began questioning her about it. The maid was convinced that receiving an invitation was a good sign, but Celeste wasn’t so sure.
Still, the old Celeste was so self-centered that she probably would have thought the same, so she did her best to act excited. Unfortunately, her best only consisted of mumbling in agreement and following after Marie into the maze of clothes.
“My lady, we absolutely have to pick the perfect dress. You’ll outshine all the other noblewomen with your beauty, and then they’ll have to accept you!” How naive.
