She feels stronger, stronger than she was two weeks ago, I can sense it. “Please. Can we talk?” My large feet move closer to her. Closer to her fragile body, while she gazes at our very existence on the wall. I stop. I know if I get closer, she will run, or refuse to talk to me. “We are one of the original creatures.” Her eyes move towards me as I walk to the furthest painting on the wall, the symbols of life, pointing at them as I speak. “Werewolf. Vampire. And a Witch, I do not belong to the originals, I don’t have the blood running in my veins.” “Just three?” her sweet voice finally spoke. ‘No, there are more creatures than you can imagine.' “Do you believe in God?” Her confused face lastly sees mine. I couldn’t help but smile. “On this wall is our history of our kind, but not just ours. Many years ago. God started a war with his son Lucifer…” “I know the story." “Yes, later on, God decided that the angels that sided with his son Lucifer did not belong in heaven and were cast out to live among humans…” “The fallen angels?” She knows her history. “Yes.” We move among other paintings. The bright and dark paintings as if showing the war between good and evil itself, “That wasn’t the only thing god did to the angels, because angels are of pure beauty and have power within themselves, god created a curse that if one of his angels commits a crime and kills a human, one of his famous creations, they will become death.” “Death?” “They become mythological creatures, some become monsters all humans believe are fairy tales. Becoming a monster was sinful for an angel” “Like Medusa for instance?” “Yes.” She burst into laughter. “Of course. It’s impossible right?” “So are vampires. And werewolves and witches” Her eyes flicker at mine as if I have pushed a button. “So, about the originals?” “The originals are the first ever supernatural creatures. They shared blood that kept them together, they were created to kill the fallen angels, but they decided to go against God and disobey his orders, everything comes with a price, they all found out the hard way. The witch, consumed by her arrogance, believed it was wrong that God only gave one of them the power of immortality. God never told them how they could die. But as the witch turned on the original vampire, who had already discovered she could make creatures like herself, became captured by the witch, and tortured for answers. The witch turned humans into vampires and watched as they died for her experiments. Her darkness consumed her and finally, she thought she could become a vampire herself, but she made it worse. Intake of the original vampire’s blood and killing her tore a barrier between humans and the other side.” “The other dimension?” “No something between Heaven and Hell. The killing and her death produced so much power that it corrupted and scattered across the earth and the universe. This created a multi-version of the witch and their bloodline finding a new source. Humans are born with power genes, and the original vampire scattered to find a new soul.” “What about the werewolf?” We stopped, and stopped at the painting that showed us the werewolf symbol. “The werewolf fell in love. He fell in love with a human. After creating more creatures like himself, just like the vampire. He fell in love with a human and turned her to be like him, having a child with her, living life, which is not what god wanted. God turned on him, a vampire bite can kill a werewolf…” My dear mother. I drop silent. The thought of how my mother died… “But werewolf blood can kill a vampire. So, either way, they both die.” “But what about the angels? If we were created to kill the fallen angels and we didn’t.” “Hunters. Half angel’s half human.” “Why would God create more creatures and put them on the planet? When it never worked before.” “I never said God was an intelligent person” This makes her laugh. Oh, how I have missed her laugh. “But it is believed god never actually made these creatures, he captured them in their realms and stranded them on earth to try and balance life on his world, but it just made it worse, I guess, and the other realms have become harder through the centuries to find.'' She stops and hides her face as soon as she realizes I’m staring. `Then what is the truth? What was the beginning?” “Nobody knows, no one in this century anyway, everyone has their beliefs, we picked one and went with it.” ... “So, you know many creatures, through human history.” “A Banshee?” “A Banshee can predict death and much more. Nonetheless, there are more creatures out there that you can envision.” The last painting burns with fire and a supernatural symbol lying above. “Romeo and Juliet. Was that your mother’s book? Or was that a lie too? Romeo and Juliet. How can I be so stupid, Romeo and Juliet?” She laughs, a laugh I don’t want to hear. “You know I think I fell for that. I mean how could I not, it was Romeo and Juliet after all. Every girl would fall for that.” “I’m sorry” I whisper through the long silence as we stand there, but it was my mother's favourite. And she fell for that like my father did to my mother. “Don’t be. I am.” I’m confused. “I want to be alone.” “But Violetta…” I finally took a step towards her. “Please.” Her wimping voice begs me. And I stop at her command. As I watch her disappear from my sight.
