“Okay, Bunny. I will talk to you soon.”
“Okay, mum. Say HI to Dad and the twins for me.”
“Of course. Love you” … “Bunny?”
“Love you too.” The feeling of her smile presses against the phone as if she is placing a kiss on my cheeks. “You can hang up now.” She giggles. Her heavy breathing cuts off as the line goes dead, I slam the phone onto the counter, I feel even more imprisoned than I did while I was away, I know no one here, not even Hunter…
"Hi, I'm Tae, Hyung-Tae"
"I know, I’m Violet" he gives me his hand to shake, and I slowly place my palm on his, he holds my hand with a firm grip, his golden eyes look down into mine, and his smooth warm finger slides through mine as he lets go.
I look down to his chest, to his exposed apps to his black joggers and white boxers, I slowly look back up to his face, to his lips watching him smile at me, watching him make me blush, making my heart race.
"I know," he says beaming, as he leans in closer to me, his intoxicating scent fills my nostrils, and for some reason, I feel safe with him. He leans closer and closer to me. His cheek is touching mine now and his lips are just scraping my ear. He then whispers, "And I know what you are, Pandora." This does not give me any shock at all. I have heard it before.
His lips leave my ear, he doesn't move away from my face he is just centimetres away from me, my heart begins to beat faster, now his blue eyes stare dip into mine, his nose rests on mine, his soft skin brushing mine sending tingles down my body, I close my eyes, to bring in all these emotions, I feel protected.
"I will shield you, Violetta, if it is the last thing I will ever do. Do you understand?" He mutters in his dark, soothing voice, as I slightly nod my head, his lips are just lightly touching mine, he slightly pulls away and rests his head on my forehead, closing his eyes too, feeling the warmth from my skin travelling to his, “What are you?” I spoke.
“A warlock, my Royal Highness” ...
The dreams or visions I have are no longer scaring me, I do feel a little awkward about the kind of dreams I am having, and I cannot tell Adrian, or Hunter, definitely not Hunter. I throw the covers off me and head out towards the forest.
“A royal. A Princess," I laugh as I jump down from a tree. I walk for a while; the birds sing to me or to their children to say goodnight as the sun goes down and the bright moon shines. The deer, five miles beside me, looks straight through me as she eats the grass, and the bats fly above me, drifting through the delicate hot air, the warm breeze ironically cools me down and makes me feel alive while I observe the moon, the stars, and freedom.
I take out my pole as I find the perfect tree to feel my power. As I blew one, or two times, gliding the tree with my metal pole, this was the only way I knew to blow off steam.
Abruptly, excruciating pain throws me to my knees, I tried not to scream, but it took me by surprise, I looked down to where an arrow pierced through my lower leg, I threw myself down placing my glove into my mouth, my teeth pierced through the glove, my eyes glow to the point I could see in the dark, my claws wrapped around the arrow, I squeeze my eyes shut, and I snapped the arrow. “f**k!” I threw it away from me, and my leg healed, but very slowly, I struggled to stand, the pain thrashed its way up my leg, I dropped again, to the point I couldn’t stay in the open much longer, I crawled backwards where I didn’t want to lose sight to anyone in front. But a strange sense of smell frightens me, I move to where a long-spiked rod skimmed my face and landed right by my side. I grabbed the pole and held it to keep me steady. “Who is there!” I scream, my leg finally heals, and the metal pole helps protect me, but I am too late, as another wicked arrow slices through my shoulder, “Ahhhh.” The blood filled my mouth. I don’t know what to do but call for help. I fell to the floor, the arrow was so far in my shoulder that I couldn’t reach it, another arrow hit my leg again, and brought me back to the floor when I crawled to safety. A hand rests on my shoulders and turns me. “Please!” I squinted my eyes as blood formed in my mouth, I cannot die this way. I cannot.
“Violet?” a recognizable female voice startles me, I slowly open my eyes, to where a sword is held to my throat. I trial the blade to its handle and to the owner that was first indistinct to me.
“Mrs. Jane.” She shakes her head, her hair tied to the top, and her face is unrecognizable, she looks younger, in her black outfit, her arrows held in its sack and her hips filled with weapons.
“You shouldn’t be here Violet.” She whispers as she looks around her, her eyes shimmering, I hadn’t noticed before. And they landed back at me, for where they widen, her eyes look down to my leg and my shoulder where arrows pierce. “You're one of them?” She gasps as the blade leaves my skin, leaving a small mark.
“You’re a hunter?” I whimper.
“You shouldn’t be here.” She mutters. Shaking her head as if she couldn’t believe it. “You need to leave, Violet. You need to get out of here.” She whispers, more. “Go!” She shouts.
“But Mrs. Jane.”
“Now!” She shouts again, I struggle to my feet and stagger towards the nearest trees, and the trees after that. I hesitated, tripping over myself, and finding my way back to the pack. But something stops me. A hand rests on my shoulder and slams me into the tree.
“I told you to run.” Her eyes pierce through my soul, her lips tremble as she speaks.
“Mrs. Jane, please don’t do this.” I sob.
“Fight back Violet.” Her whisper confused me. “Fight me.” She wasn’t joking.
“I cannot. I don’t want to hurt you.”
“If you don’t, I will kill you.” My Body strengthened as I pushed her off me and down to the floor. The arrows weakened me, she flipped me over and held me to the throat again. How is she doing this?
“I don’t understand” I sob under her again.
“Fight me.” She screams as tears flow.
“I don’t want to.” I shake my head, but with every blow she gives me I block it, and don’t fight back.
“Please.” She whispers, as her knife makes its way to her hand.
“Mrs. Jane, you don’t have to do this, I didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Child, your existence is wrong.” The words that came out of her mouth felt vile. Everything makes sense now. Her knife cut me a few times as I struggled to block her arm and hide myself away from her unnatural strength. Her hand went to my hip when I blocked but a sharp pain triggered my other side and sent me to howl, my claws exposed, and my thangs erupted. My claws scraped to whatever was in front of me in the darkness and pushed whatever was inside my waist out. I couldn’t hold myself anymore, as I stopped and protected my head from another blow, but one never came my way. I wait, peeping through my arms to where Mrs Jane stood there, her tears falling, blood pouring from her mouth as she smiled. Her hands gushed with blood that held her throat.
“No!” I screamed as I ran to her fall. “Mrs. Jane. Please, wait let me get help.” I held her as her eyes seemed to not worry, she just smiled my way, her hand felt the sweat from my cheek, and her body lay on my chest, I opened her other hand where my claws had ripped a fragment of her neck. “It's okay, just put pressure on it, it can be healed, it’s a small cut,” I reassure her.
But she refuses and shakes her head, letting go of her neck. “No, you need pressure.” I whimpered, searching for my phone.
“Violet.” She gasps. “There was no other way.”
“What do you mean?'' Please be quiet. I'm begging. As I now hold her neck, she gives up on me.
“I'm a hunter, Miss Rose. If you didn’t kill me, I would have killed you.”
“I don’t understand.”
“My daughter.” She mumbles, as she reaches for her pocket and brings out a photo of a young woman, a woman with dark curly hair and big brown eyes, her freckles were stronger than mine and covered her entire face and body. “Vampire. Compulsion. She likes me. She will be happy…”
“Shh. I don’t understand” Her chest rises and falls for the last time, as her sole leaves her eyes, and her smile fades. I covered her eyes with my hands and held her before I could move, and I couldn’t…
“Jake.”
“Violet?”
“Jake.” I entered his room where I stumbled and fell to the floor.
“Who is that? What happened Vi?” He runs towards me and to the floor where he removes the coat away from his face, “Mrs Jane.” He mumbles, “Oh god.” The coat went back over her face, where I couldn’t see any longer.
“Did you know?” I sob.
“Hunters can recognize a hunter, Vi. But her identity couldn’t be given to anyone.”
“she said she couldn’t stop. She said that if I didn’t kill her, she would have killed me.”
“Lily was part of a hunter bloodline where they were cursed centuries ago to kill wolves…”
“What do you mean?!” I interrupted him.
“She didn’t have a choice, the power from the witches was a curse her parents would have had, and she had them and for generations, it will carry on.”
“She didn’t have a choice?” I cry. “She wanted me to kill her, Jake.” I sob in my hand and bring it back to where the blood was there. “It won’t come off.” I whimper, wiping them to the point I bleed myself, “Why won’t it come off!” The door opened to where Jake ordered someone to get Adrian. I stood, leaving Mrs. Jane comfortable, sleeping on the floor, and limping to the bathroom where the sink ran blood, “Why! Where is the water? Clean water?!” …
“Violet.” Jake turns me. “It’s okay.”
“I killed Jake. I killed someone.” I couldn’t breathe.
“It isn’t your fault.” His hands came to my face and he ordered me to look at him. “You did nothing wrong!” He growls, I nod, my lips held in my cries, and his hand directs my head to his chest as he holds me. “I killed her” …
My feet were stuck within the bath water, that held in the middle of the room, in the middle of nowhere, that was dyed black, to begin with, where Jake didn’t want me to see the blood that drained off my body, his hands delicate removed the arrow from my leg and my shoulder. He broke them and placed them to the side where he came over to me and knelt, I looked at him, and I didn’t notice the arrows had been out of me for a while now. His finger removed the curls from out of my face and behind my back, my knees held me steady and up towards my chest within the scoring bath, which made my eyes feel weary, the herbs Jake burnt on the side, had made me want to sleep, made me want to forget. “What is going on!” A loud voice echoed through the bedroom and into the bathroom, Jake took one look at me, and my eyes stared at the water. Jake's eyes landed on mine for a moment, where I gradually shook my head, and to my command, he stood and headed towards the doors closing the glass before they entered. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t speak, I just listened.
“What is happening here, Jake.” Adrian angered.
“Is that Violet in there, in your bath?” Hunter demanded to come in, but Jake stepped up.
“Tell me what happened, boy. Who is that?”
“A gifted hunter.” He tried to whisper but it didn’t help. “She was Violet’s teacher.”
“Mrs. Jane?” Hunter spoke. “Father, the hunter I told you about.”
“How did a gifted hunter get here Jake?”
“Vi…”
“Princess!” Adrian interrupts.
“The princess was in the woods where Lilly attacked, Lilly asked the princess to kill her, the princess accidentally slit her throat, to where she brought her here to me, and to where she asked for me to be in there with her.”
“Father!” … “Go in there. No man should be doing that.” Hunter orders some maid of theirs. But I don’t want that.
“No. Just Jake!” I whisper. Where I heard footsteps stop, and a gasp from the hunter.
“Alpha,” Jake spoke, he turned, and the slide doors opened to where they both could see the hole in the back of my shoulder, and the blood running down my naked spine. But I couldn’t see their faces, and I didn’t want to either. And for a split second, the doors closed, and I was alone again.
“Get someone to deal with this. I need some healing herbs for the princess’s wounds. I need to speak to ‘The Order’ Hunter, they may visit once they hear of this, and I also need to know If she has any relatives…”
“Yes, father.” Hunter's voice was a blast of anger.
“Her daughter,” I mumble, Jake's hand stops, and the sponge, white stained red stops.
“It's okay, Vi. We will sort it out. Nothing will happen to her.” I look down to where my clothes lay, and the image of her lying there with them…
The towel wrapped around me, and the blanket cradles me too. He picks me up like a child like my mother used to do, and takes me over to his bed, where he lays me down and covers my body with a second blanket and a third. “Rest.” He mumbles, “Please.” But every time I close my eyes, I see her. I see her body lying there in my hands, and if it isn’t her, it’s the demon. He stands to leave. “Wait.” … “Stay, until I fall asleep.”
“Do you still have nightmares, Vi?” I nod as I turn to cover my face. “I will stay okay. Just rest.” …
My back breaks upwards and as so many times before I am forced to endure this pain... Just like multiple personalities, I am forced backward into the wolf’s mind as she takes control of my body, I look down at my hands as they start to shrink, and white fur starts to pierce through my skin and cover my whole body. My neck cracks and every single bone in my body blows and rearranges itself into the shape of a wolf. I am not a white wolf because of my royal blood, it’s because of my father, just more lies.
I look towards the moon as if it can help me, but it cannot help me, the unnatural power the wolf has is linked with the moon, and no one can change that, but am I wrong? Has it been so soon since my first transformation, I try not to change, I hate it, the scream exciting my lungs must have stretched for miles. My mind explodes as if a bomb has been let off inside my body. All my senses start to decrease, and my eyesight starts to weaken. All I can hear is my heartbeat in my head thumping, *thump-thump, thump-thump* loud and clear. Then it stops…
