"Violetta!!"
My eyes blur, forcing my eyelids open so I can focus on the figure running towards me. I look up from the damp floor, the leaves and mud to find Hunter running towards me. He takes off his black cotton jumper and places it on my naked body, he gently trails his warm fingers against my skin and gradually picks my fragile exposed body up and runs back towards the house.
"Hunter?" the pain shuts me down…
"What happened to you?" Hunter opens the door for me as we walk towards his father's office, I look down at borrowed clothes, the black checked shirt and blue jeans tighten on me forcing me to walk as if my legs don’t work anymore, just until I can get my clothes.
“Didn’t everyone change?” I watch his gentle face screw up; he isn’t helping my anxiety. He knocks on his father's door.
"You can come in, son". I step forward, but the door doesn’t open, and my face and body are closer towards Hunter, closer than I have consciously been. His hand comes towards my face, flinching at his movement, towards my damp curls, feeling his body heat on my cheek. He must understand the kind of fear I have. His eyes portray him. His finger slides against my roughneck, and causes pain, and as simple as a butterfly leaving its cocoon, the womb heals, just like any other supernatural healing, except mine is slower of course.
He leaves my space, and by this time, I am still standing here as if I am glued, my hand rests on my neck where his fingers were, and time goes back to ordinary tempo. I clear my throat, forcing myself to move forward. Inside Adrian’s office, he stands there, as if he has been standing there all morning, just like an old man he holds his scotch in one hand and a book in the other, with his glasses hanging down his nose. My lips twitch, believing this wasn’t the real him, I have never seen anyone do that. But if you’re a rich Alpha, then why not? Adrian places his book on top of the fireplace as he grins towards me. “Violetta” his head bows, “What is wrong?”
“Violetta turned uncontrollable last night, father,” Hunter blurts.
“Last night?” Alpha Adrian removes his glasses and places his fingers towards his lips. And a slight and strange interaction grew between Hunter and his father but ignored it as he spoke.
“Do you think it has something to do with her being clairvoyant?” Adrian walked towards me and didn’t say anything, nothing at all, he was being stranger, stranger than ever. “Father?”
“Listen to my words Princess. The original history, original painting, and the original mark, you will find your original heritage. The beginning will become closer to you, as you look closer, closer towards the end, the mark will become clearer to you as does your heritage”
“Father, have you gone mad?”
“Someone a very long time ago gave me this. And told me one day I will have to give it to you.” Adrian lifted a scroll out of his pocket and handed it over to me, and the words that he spoke were written on this very old piece of paper. Adrian walks back over towards his book and continues with his reading; Hunter stands there speechless, his hands making a what-are-you-talking-about meaning. I take that as an answer and leave, as I have nothing else to say, as does Adrian. It took me a good few minutes to understand what he had said, but still, the words only sat in my brain…
For the past couple of nights, I have been down here; in the forbidden library, reading as much as possible about our history and a bit more of the world's history. At the very beginning, I even heard something about hybrids in one of the books I searched through. “The mark will become clearer to you as does your heritage.” I think he may be talking about my birthmark.
My first change was on Sunday the 16th of October the full moon hit its highest point in the sky where the moon hits the horizon, the full moon is seen when the moon is opposite the sun in the sky just around midnight. My face struggles to lift itself from the rough forest, the shouts and laughter travels miles towards me from the lake near the manor house, the party I had left. My feet dragged themselves further and further away from the screams as I found a ditch, I know will be the only way to keep me hidden. The hole swallowed me in, my legs collapsed at least fifteen feet down, and I howled when I had collaborated with the floor. The change had taken over, and by now I had realized what I am. I had questioned myself since my early teenage years, but my own body has given me the truth. I have always wanted to be a wolf born to change inhumanly…
I relit the candle with the match, stacking up the books I walked over towards the shelf and placed them on it. When I placed the books one by one in order a purple book fell from the top shelf, and caught the top of my forehead, “Damn it.”
I picked the purple book up, holding it in my two hands. A golden strip covers the linings and edges of the book. The pages are old but also remain intact. The book feels light but also heavy with information, the power I never knew existed, I can feel it coming off the book and into my hands, up my arms and into my heart.
"What are you?" I speak to the book like it's going to talk back. I trail my fingers on the edge, A buckle holding the book together is fragile. I bring it to my table and sit down not letting go of the book, I unbuckle the thick lock that holds it together and I open it.
"Royals" This must be the small version of the one in the glass. On the first ever page of the golden/purple book is a huge tree, paintings of people, children, crowns, and names. The page is dark but also full of light, the full moon appears over the tree, and just below the tree shines a bright sun. "in regia familiar werewolf"
"The royal werewolf family" I trail my fingers across the trees, down the branches, over the photos and names. "Emerick Elijah Jaylen Asaad, my father. I trail it down to another name. It's me, a small baby in a circle, Violetta Adelana Orlena Asaad, Asaad. Violetta Asaad, I think I may like Rose better" I laugh to myself.
I turn the page over slowly; I want to take in every information I can. "My family, my whole family" my fingers trace over every little word that stained this book. Hours later I came to the end, just beside me another small baby hiding in a golden circle, under my father, “I must have a brother?” and just underneath the circle, is his name…
