The Nightmares

"Are you okay?" "No." My eyes sting, the tears fall, and his fingers move my fringe away from my eyes. "What happened? A nightmare again." I didn't speak, but he knew. His eyes seem to have the answers I want, but he will not share them with me, not yet maybe not ever. "When will you see me?" "I am seeing you." "No. I mean, see you, I can feel you, but yet I'm all alone with this." "It's okay, our link is very strong, I am your wolf, and I will care for you until you don't need me anymore." "I'm sorry..." "Woah, sorry I." I rushed to apologize and gather my book. His strong hands moved towards mine and helped me stand. "No, I am sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going." He chuckles, and the scent of warmth overthrows me, I catch the air that was exciting my lungs and meet his eyes for a moment. I was forced into a loop that I had to force myself away from embarrassment, my caramel cheeks flushed a dark pink. What has gotten into me? He feels warmer in real life, his touch, his scent, his smile. "Thank you." It felt like hours, but only seconds flew past as we stood here in silence. "I." - "Miss." We both spoke. "You are first," I mumble. "Miss Rose, right?" I hum in agreement, I clear my throat, "No. Well, yes. But no, it's Violet." I wait. "Hunter?" I whisper. His smile fades, I wait for him to agree, to tell me that it is, in fact, his real name, but he looks at me with confusion. "Sorry, I didn't hear what you said." "Oh, Luka, right?" "Yes. Luka." "I want to thank you for earlier. She appears to have a grudge against me." "Is there a reason why?" "Nope, she always had." Again, the silence kills me. He moves aside. "Are you going that way?" My eyes flutter, and my heart beats to the dozen, I left, leaving his area, but his scent still lingers on me. But he doesn't smell like a dog or a wolf, but then again, I have never smelt one before. I look back, he stood there, staring at a piece of paper, his eyes strolling around him. "Are you lost?" I startle him as he turns and appears too embarrassed to agree, but he does. I grab his time sheet off him, and his body stands so close, looking over my shoulder, I look up, his eyes not focusing on me, but that's fine, I get to focus on him more, I have waited so long too be with him. "So how long have you been here for?" "Well, only two hours, this morning," I replied. I look up at him, and he grins, but I don't know why. "I mean, lived here?" "Oh," I look away, how stupid. Stupid. Stupid. "I was born here," I spoke. What is wrong with me? Speak normally. "And you?" "I moved in just this week with my youngest brother and sister. With my father." I felt a strong shock of pain that crossed his mind, but his smile stayed the same. I shouldn't have asked. "So how do you like it here? I hear the forest is amazing. I hope you moved in great. Are you staying long?" He laughs; did I say something wrong? "Sorry," I murmur. "No, no. It's great. This is great." I stop. "Erm, so this is you." "So, what do you take?" He perks. "Uh." How can I forget? "History, English, Korean, erm. Something else." I lost my train of thought. But he sprung into laughter anyway. "Thank you. Miss Rose." He says as he walks into the classroom. "Violet, it's Violet," I whispered, but he had gone. I walk to my next lesson, repeating the time I had with him in my head, his eyes, his hair, his clothes, and his body. 'Greek-ology' That's what I take!' "Miss Rose!" As soon as I open the door, he startles me. "You're late." I look down at my watch and clench my teeth, commonly giving me a break. "I'm so sorry, Professor Masson." "You can stay ten minutes behind and help me with paperwork, you're lucky I'm feeling content today. Take a seat." I grinned at him as he shook his head, I tapped towards Anna and sat just beside her. "Where have you been? Class started three hours ago." The time flew fifteen minutes past the usual class time. "I was busy," I mutter. "With Luka?" Her whisper of his name made me shiver. I still can't believe that he is here. It must be him. "I told you to stay away from him." When did she? I should listen more. "I know, I am." I sigh. She grins; a grin I haven't seen from her before. "Yeah, yeah. He is hot, though. I haven't been into the Asian side of males before, but when one stands out like he does, then boom." I gasp, she chuckles into her hand, stopping herself from laughing. "Just like Professor Masson." That sly sentence dribbles from her lips. "Miss Rose." I jolt. "Do I have to make it twenty?" I shook my head. His light chocolate eyes stare deep into mine; he is the only teacher that I trust, everyone else seems too far away, he runs his fingers through his pitch-black hair, his tight shirt tucked within his pants, and his tie unfolds. He looks ruff, "Good. Then I will begin." ... "So, does anyone here know anything about the town's history?" He scans the room, "What about the founder?" He writes the town's name onto the board, 'Oakville.' Sometimes after class, I stayed for half an hour to an hour with him, talking about the history, he never refused, he was quite excited that someone was interested in his life's work. So, I was waiting for him to say my name, passing through papers, and avoiding eye contact. "Miss Rose." My heart thumps to my name. Why? Please, why me? I look at him, grinning with everything I get, but he won't change his mind. He grins back, roughly smirking. "John Oak Thomas Brad-Ville, Sir." "Great, that's great." He wrote his name onto the board, "And what is his history?" He stops talking for a moment, listening to the joy in his voice, "Miss Rose?" "Professor, I'm sure someone else knows the history." I look around. Everyone else turns their heads. "He founded the town in eighteen o-five. Mr. Brad-ville was travelling with his wife to another state. On the way to this state, his wife was in labour. They stopped near a waterfall where they could use the fresh water to help with the birth of his first child." I stop. "I'm sure you know the rest." He chuckles, his voice so quiet sent tingles down my neck. "When their first child was born, they decided they would spend the rest of their life here, in Oakville." He sat on his desk, telling a story he once already told me. "Obviously he couldn't live in the forest with his newborn son..." "Why? Sir." William, an average brown hair, brown eye boy is curious. "Whispers from the trees spoke of creatures running through the forest during the night." Everyone that held their breath, exhaled and murmured to their friends next to them. "So, they walked miles and miles until they found the right spot to start their family. Perfect walk to the waterfalls and perfect for the family household. After a couple of years, more and more people built a brand new town named after the man who had founded it. Oakville." The mood changed; he gave us all a suspicious mysterious look. "History has it that the creatures John was so afraid of actually took the form of human life and walked among them, in the town, from that day forward." And silence... "So," He claps his hands and startles everyone. "Why is no one writing this down? This is your assessment." The room fills with cries and sighs, "I know, I know, but history is important." Above all the moaning, the professor began to write the assessment on the board and circled it. "It is very simple, simple enough that toddlers can do it. Find me anything about Brad-Ville from where he was born and why he was travelling through the town, from myths to scary stories. Okay?" "Yes!" Everyone mutters. "I have papers up front here. Collect them on your way out. Next time I want you to represent the one-thousand-word assessment in front of the class in one week tomorrow, and I will know if you made the fact up, even if it is a myth, you got that?" A young boy behind me sighs as he scribbles his writing out. "'Yí shān de rén cóng bān zǒu xiǎo shí tou kāI shǐ.' 'The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones' a quote. I want you all to start with smaller stones this year and aim higher than before. Understood?" "Yes, Professor." ... "HUNTER!!!" I bring myself to stand. The blood drips down my knee and drops onto the grounds of the forest. "Where are you?!" I scream to the moon, the blood moon that scatters light around the forest, making the trees appear as if they are on fire. I am lost, and I am vulnerable. "Please I need you," I fall once again, and again, I feel a warming sensation around my body, the warmth of fingers sliding under my arms and towards my naked stomach. "Hey." He hushes for me to calm down, "I am here now" He places his forehead on top of mine, hovering his lips above mine and his nose softly pressing against mine. "You are all mine" He whispers... "I know, I trust you" He brings his smooth hand up my chest and towards my throat, and slowly but gently he squeezes, tighter and tighter. "Hunter..." I gasped for air; beside him, and shadow appeared, the same shadow that plagues me. "I'm sorry" ... "Please" ... "Violetta when I say turn!" My hands held up tight, the chains spikes and rips deep within my wrists, the room full of darkness, a huge burning shock struck my back twice, I held in the scream, they want, Hunter was nowhere to be seen, people in the shadows watches me, my dress rips, my knees bled, the drain under me collects the blood, dripping down and stocking with the rest, hissing captures the blood with excitement. "I MEAN TURN!" ... "Please." My eyes erupt; a glow in them that would unravel my real identity; I hid them as soon as Professor Mason stood over me. "Are you okay, Violet?" His smooth voice, the scent coming off him feels familiar to me, a strong vibration. I coughed away from him, the only way I could know was if my eyes had gone down. I slowly looked up. He was closer than I thought, my eyes reflected off his, and they were their original spice green. I smile, I must have shocked him, as he strangely smiles too. "Are you okay?" "Yes, thank you." ... "How long have I been asleep?" "Thirty minutes," He is very calming. "I couldn't wake you." "Thirty minutes?" he nods, pulling the chair up beside me. "Do you want to talk?" "No, no." I pick up all my books before he can sit, and an awkward laugh escapes me, "Can I go?" I suck in the tears, a dream I have had many times before, being caged, being assaulted for no reason. "Yes, of course." He stood at the same time as me. "Please, make sure you get enough sleep, Miss Rose." "Yes Sir." I leaned my head down, hiding as much pain as I could... "Oh. Luka, I am so sorry, I was..." - In my thoughts as usual. I release my foot away from his. 'I seriously need to look where I am going.' His eyes weary down to mine, whenever he looks at me, it feels like he knows me, to the point of being Hunter, maybe this is just a mask, maybe he'll tell me soon. I open my mouth to try and speak. To try and ask but when he smiles, his eyes brighten, my mind blanks and I'm back to square one again.
