Chloe gave a light, dangerous smile. "Exactly what it sounds like. Since this just happened, no one knows who the mastermind is yet. Which means everyone present—including those who conveniently left property behind—is a suspect."
She stepped closer, her voice dropping to a chilly edge. "Furthermore, you haven't been a member of Team Swift for a while. The team had no legal obligation to guard your personal property. Now that the facility has been raided by thugs, you want compensation? Fine—go find the thugs and ask them for it."
Feifei’s face turned a sickly shade of green. "Chloe Bishop, you have no standing to speak for Team Swift! Get away from me and tell Coach Lee to come out here right now."
Chloe maintained her elegant smile, her eyes cold. "My apologies. I am now the Vice Captain of Team Swift. That means I have full authority to handle your... little situation."
"You? The owner of Swift?" Feifei gasped, pointing a trembling finger at Chloe. Suddenly, the realization of Coach Lee rejecting Yuvraj’s offer flashed through her mind, and she blurted out, "It was you! You’re the one who bought this land!"
The words were out before Feifei realized she had overplayed her hand.
Chloe’s gaze became sharp and predatory. "How did you know Coach Lee was planning to sell the land?"
Feifei’s eyes darted away instinctively. "A teammate told me... so what? Is that a crime?"
It was her, Chloe thought. If a teammate had truly told her, why was she so defensive? Chloe’s smile vanished, replaced by a look of grim warning. She leaned into Feifei’s ear. "Feifei, you aren't a good liar. You’d better hope you had nothing to do with this raid. Otherwise, your uncle Cyrus’s fate will be yours."
Feifei didn't back down, her expression darkening with malice. "Chloe, don't get arrogant. You think this land is easy to hold onto? Do you have any idea how many powerful eyes are fixed on this property?"
Chloe arched a perfectly groomed brow. "Who told you I was the one who bought it?"
"If not you, then who?"
"All I can tell you," Chloe replied coolly, "is that you should be more worried about the people pulling the strings—and yourself. Not a single person involved in today’s mess is going to escape."
Without another word, Chloe walked straight over to a police officer and pointed directly at Feifei. "Officer, I have reason to suspect this woman is connected to the vandalism today."
The officer looked at Chloe with a professional, stern expression. "Please state the grounds for your suspicion."
Chloe didn't hesitate. "She had a falling out with the team and left a week ago, yet she conveniently left two multi-million dollar race cars here instead of moving them. Then, immediately after another heated argument with the Coach yesterday, the facility is raided and 'her' cars are among the wreckage. It looks remarkably like a staged provocation."
Feifei’s face shifted from green to a ghostly white. She pointed an accusing finger back at Chloe. "You're slandering me! How dare you!"
Chloe let out a cold laugh. Slander? I'm just getting started. "Officer, she’s all yours. I’m done playing games."
The officer immediately stepped toward Feifei. "Ma'am, what is your name?"
"Officer, she's framing me!" Feifei shrieked.
"Are two of the destroyed vehicles yours?" the officer asked, unswayed.
"Yes, but—"
"Did you have a dispute with the team management yesterday?" the officer interrupted.
"It wasn't a fight," Feifei stammered. "Just a minor disagreement."
The officer nodded. "That’s enough. Based on those two points, this lady’s suspicion is grounded in logic. I'll need you to come down to the station with us."
Feifei’s heart sank, her anger turning to pure panic. "Officer, listen to me..."
"Rest assured," the officer said firmly, cutting her off. "It’s just a formal statement. Let's go."
Feifei is being led away in a patrol car, her "sponsorship" trap having backfired spectacularly. But as Chloe watches her cousin leave, she realizes the real battle is just beginning. With the National Qualifiers looming and the facility in ruins, how will Chloe and Coach Lee rebuild Team Swift from the ground up under the watchful, demanding eye of the Demon CEO?
