I immediately went onto the stage in triumph.
“Congratulations Miss Sullivan! You give honor to our school as you’re the first gold medalist who won the competition!”The master of the ceremony congratulated me as he encircled the medal on my neck and gave me the trophy.
I looked at the camera and made a broad smile. This is so overwhelming.
When I saw Lewis smiling widely at me, I immediately ran to him and, due to my happiness, I hugged him. It’s late when I realized what I did, but I let it, I let others see it. This man trusted me and saw my abilities. I thank him for believing in me when I couldn’t do it for myself.
“Thank you, Lewis.” It was just a whisper but I know he heard it.
