CHAPTER 5 : We Met Again

1160 Words
Anastasia's POV When I arrived at my apartment, I prepared my snacks and took a short hot shower. I checked all of my things before going to work. After I locked my door, I noticed a familiar car, and there was only one person in mind who owned that expensive car. Dylan gets out of his car and opens the doors for me as if he's expecting me to get in, which made me get my brows furrowed. "Didn't I tell you to stop?"I asked calmly. "Why? Don't tell me you'll reject my offer again? You rejected me twice today, Anastasia. Besides, it's just the two of us here, no one's watching us." "I want a peaceful life at university, Dylan," I responded, and got inside his car since I'd be late in a few minutes. Pride won't help me with that. Seeing a glimpse of curiosity in his eyes with what I've said. But he managed to zip his mouth, start the engine, and turn on the radio instead. "You didn't tell me that you also own a university."I started the conversation. Breaking the silence. "Do I have to? I mean, I want to befriend you and it's nothing to do with it," he replied. He doesn't understand it. "It is Dylan. Everyone on the campus knows you as the son of the university president. You should stop hanging around me."I said calmly. It's not an issue with me if he wants to be friends with me, but I want a peaceful school year. It will never happen if I hang out with him, he attracts too much attention and it sucks to see that these people, especially women, are stabbing and killing me with their glares. "I don't see anything wrong with it, Anastasia. They can't do anything about it." "You don't understand Dylan, we can't be friends."I am getting annoyed again. "Then let me understand." "You're rich and famous, I am not. You're good-looking, and I am not."I said, pissed, hoping that he would understand it this time. "Are you insecure about me?"He asked and glanced at me with brows furrowed. I looked at him in disbelief. "I told you, you would never understand."I gave up. Good thing that we're near to the hotel because I don't want to prolong our conversation anymore. "I don't know what you're up to, Anastasia. You could tell me what's bothering you. I want to befriend you and I am looking forward to it. So please stop pushing me away from you, it saddens me."He said sincerely. I understand his point, I don't see anything wrong with friendship, but it's him, he's popular and I'm just a nobody. I wouldn't doubt if I'll be receiving death threats one of these days if I kept on hanging around him. My life has been in chaos ever since, and I want to make a change because I'm in college now. I don't want my studies to be affected either by people who keep on bullying me. That's why, as long as I can avoid him. I will. "Thank you for the ride, Dylan. I hope this will be the last."The only words came out from me as I looked at him straight into his eyes before I got out of his car. I felt guilty about what I'd said. I may sound rude, but I am not sorry for it. I hope he understands. As I entered my office, I saw Sir Diego sitting on a couch. "Good evening Sir."I greeted him. "Good evening Anastasia, I won't assign any paperwork to you since we're going to a meeting." I was shocked for a moment, it was my second day today and I didn't know what I would act and do during the meeting. "Don't worry dear, Lyn will help you tonight. But at our next meeting, you should do it on your own, okay?"He suddenly mentioned it like he read all my worries on my face. I nodded and smiled. He's the best boss I ever had. Though, guilt is eating me inside by remembering his son, Dylan. "We will be leaving in 15 minutes."He added before he left my office. I shouldn't be nervous, I'm Anastasia, remember? But darn it, no matter how I convinced myself to stay calm, I couldn't. I might face professional business tycoons there. I can't disappoint Sir Diego, he trusted me with this job. I can't disappoint myself either. I heaved a deep breath. I can do this. After a few minutes of convincing and empowering myself, Miss Lyn entered my office. She smiled at me. "Sir Diego told me that we would be leaving." I nodded at her. I didn't notice the time, I was standing there for a couple of minutes after Sir Diego left. I followed Miss Lyn. "Don't be nervous Ms.Anastasia, I'll guide you."She said to me, giving a convincing smile. I shrugged. I don't know why I am so nervous tonight. It was because of the meeting, right? But why do I feel like something will happen to me tonight? I erased all those unwanted thoughts. I should focus. I couldn't afford to make a mistake and lose my job. As we entered Sir Diego's car, Miss Lyn held my hand. "Calm down, Miss Anastasia, people won't eat you there. You're so tense."She whispered and chuckled a bit. "Don't worry Anastasia, just be yourself."Sir Diego added and smiled at me. As the car stopped, I felt that my heart would also stop beating. Miss Lyn giggled but I ignored her. I know she can feel all of my nervousness right now. It's definitely visible. I looked at this gigantic building in front of us. "It's normal Ms.Anastasia, I was like you before."Miss Lyn whispered again. Yet I can't find any words to reply. "Don't worry, it's not that hard to be Sir Diego's secretary, all you have to do is to take down all of the important details of the business, including the important meetings that will be settled later. You have to focus especially on the time and date of those meetings. You have to be familiar with the names of the people during the meeting, they're possible investors."She added and explained it calmly. I felt a bit calm with the way she explained everything. It's not that hard, but why am I feeling nervous for some other reason? As we entered the meeting office, people looked at us. They're all wearing a business suit, not to mention that some of them own a famous company in the country, and some were familiar. I probably saw them on television. They're all screaming wealth. But my eyes settled on a familiar man wearing the same suit as them. Am I dreaming? His perfect sharp features, chiseled jaw, well-built body, soft dark hair, that aristocrat's pointed nose, and those perfect green eyes. It's him, the man who saved me. Finally, we met again.
