Dinner and bullets

Cannon- “You look amazing if I haven’t told you recently.” I watch her as she gives a sly smile. “Yes, you told me three times and I appreciate everyone. Lynn will be proud of her work. This is her dress.” “Seriously? Lynn has always been gifted. I told her to open a shop.” “I told her the same thing! It’s like the girl doesn’t feel she deserves happiness when she…” Riley pauses. “This night is about us and you telling me about your past. Let’s stay on subject.” “You’re right.” I raised my hands in mock surrender. “So, as I was saying. When we were together in high school there was always a lot going on for me.” I tried to figure out where exactly to start. What happened that led me to leave was a series of different events. Once she knows the truth, I worry if she will still look at me the same. Like she is now with those eyes so full of trust. Even after all these years, I can feel Riley still wants to see the best in me. “You remember the relationship I had with my dad. He was a horrible son of a b***h. I hated that my mother left us, but I hated even more that he stayed behind. I swear he did it just to ruin my life.” “Yeah, I remember your dad.” She says as a smirk appears on her face. “Well, when would he…” I began as my phone began to ring. I pulled it out without looking and sent it to silent. “Sorry, as I was saying. He would…” The damn phone rings again and vibrates. “I’m sorry. Maybe it’s the shop.” I looked down and took a look at my phone. It says Axel nine-one-one. “Give me a second.” She gives me a nod as I stand and walk towards the hallway to check on things. If he is calling, and he knows its date night, then it has to be urgent. “What’s up Axe?” “We got a problem. Our shipment was ruined. We had two cases and they have been ruined. We need you here.” “f**k. How did that happen?” “Not sure. I got the guys who were in charge here to explain.” “Okay, I will be right there.” I grit as I looked over at the table, seeing that I would have to cancel this date. I walk back over to her as she looked up from her wine. She gives me a beautiful smile until she sees my expression. “Is everything alright?” “No, I have a problem at the shop. I need to get there now.” “Oh. Do you want me to come with you? I don’t mind.” She begins gathering her things. “No, I can’t have you there in that dress. I have Axel and a few guys meeting me. If any of them saw you in that dress I would have to kill my friends. Now you don’t want their blood on your hands, do you?” I smile as I place down cash on the table for our meal. “Oh, I would totally beat the charges. Have you seen me? I’m adorable.” She batts her lashes and, God, I wish I was spending the rest of the evening with her instead of dealing with this shipment. “You’re right. I would be doing time over a woman like you, Riley.” “Can’t disagree.” She smiles as she gets onto the passenger side as I hold the door for her. The way her long tanned legs almost glitter in the moonlight. Damn, I had plans to be buried between them tonight, and now I am closing the door and walking around to my side. Adjusting my f*****g crotch because she has my bulge pressing on my zipper. “Look, Bird, I am really sorry to have to cut this date short. You have to let me make it up to you.” “I will have to pencil you at the bottom of the list. I already moved a lot of men around to fit you in. There is a waitlist.” She hunches her shoulders and looks out at the road. I came to a complete stop looking over at her. My arm around the back of her seat. I run my hand down the side of her neck then reach behind her. Gripping her neck, I pulled her closer. Almost touching our lips. “Cancel them. All of them. Or you will be responsible for their family never seeing them again,” I whisper as I stare at her lips. They separate as a small gasp leaves her. I breathe in hoping to capture every taste of her. I lean in take her lips. My tongue demands to taste her as she moans giving me entry. I grip the sides of her face with both hands. Bringing her closer to me. “Cannon.” She moans as my hand slides down to her breasts. My large hands cup her softness of her curves. I grip them roughly as she gasps. Her n*****s harden as I kiss down her throat to her collar bone. I feel her pulse quicken as I suddenly feel headlights coming towards us. The road was dark until they showed up. “What the f**k?” I asked, seeing them heading directly for us. “Cannon!” She screamed as I quickly put my truck in reverse and floored it. “Hold on baby!” I yell at her as she buckles her seatbelt. “What the hell is going on!” “I don’t know, but I plan to find out,” I tell her as I pull into an alley and pull back out to drive forward. The black car turns around and begins chasing us. Who the hell could be after me? I can guess several men. I do know that my shipment was ruined and now someone is after me. I can’t let anything happen to the woman next to me. She is my entire world. Suddenly, bullets ring out behind us. We take a turn and I floor it. “What is happening! Are they shooting at us?” she yells. “Get down.” I tell her. Then I pull my gun under my seat. I pull it out and when I get a chance I take a few shots out my window. “What the hell are you doing!” She screams as she hugs the seat cushion. “Trying to keep us alive.” I floor it and pull out my phone. “Steer.” I tell her as I call for backup with my other hand. “What!” She yells as she takes the wheel. She tries her best to steer down these pitch-black winding roads. “Hello?” Axel answers. “Someone is following us and shooting at us. Off old highway thirteen.” I told him, “We will meet you at the bridge.” Axel hangs up. I know he and a team of bikers will be there within minutes. I continue to floor it. As the car keeps up with us. Gunfire erupts once again. It will only be a matter of time before the police are called, but I plan to be long gone by then. “Bird, can you shoot?” I asked, swerving around a bend.” “Um… I am not shooting.” She yells as bullets ring out once again. “Damn it, Bird, it's either them or us. Take the gun, aim and shoot!” I tell her. “Fine!” she yells, aiming at the back of us. Then she shoots, breaking my back window. “Outside the window, Bird!” “Well, you didn’t say that!” She yells as she aims for the car and suddenly a hail of gunfire goes off. The car behind us is riddled with bullets. I hit the brakes looking at Riley. “It wasn’t me.” She tells me, and I see we have made it to the bridge. My men covered us. We watch as the car careens over the curb and goes down the embankment towards the river. I stop completely and hop out. “Stay here,” I tell her. I need to see if the asshole survived so I can question him and put the final bullet in him. “Don’t leave me!” Riley pleads as one of my men, Jimmy, runs over.” “It's okay, Bird. Jimmy, stay with her.” I gave Riley a look, and she seemed to calm an inch. I took off with my weapon as Axel and five other of my men approached the car. We move up on both sides and open the doors quickly. There’s a driver and a passenger. Two big guys in suits shot up. The driver is still alive. Barely. “Who sent you?” I grabbed him by the collar. He grins at me then dies in my hands.
