Arjun’s Mumbai mansion was called a golden prison by Priya despite the fact that it was a luxurious home. It started with oppressive silence and ended with nights that screamed loneliness. The earlier ineptitude engendered authority versus defiance in the cold war.
Priya seemed to lose her vitality under Arjun’s direction, whose previous life had been vibrant. However, she stayed strong in opposition to his autocratic tastes. In business, Arjun could be ruthless and stubborn; gradually, he discovered the tranquility behind Priya’s fragile façade.
Arjun wanted to fill up this increasing gap after one day when he took Priya for lunch outside their compound without telling her about it at all. She found herself at an enormous banyan tree which served as an occasion for a great feast. Nervous and touched, sensitively she passed through.
“Ohh Arjun! This is beautiful thank you,” Her voice was tinged with surprise besides true gratitude
Strange things were felt by Arjun as being new to him.“We needed an escape from all these troubles. So I thought maybe I should do something specifically for you.”
Sharing stories in the afternoon made them laugh and this broke their distance. Arjun’s tough exterior started showing glimpses of a man who could be kind-hearted and considerate.
The sun dipped below the horizon, leaving an orange-pink tint in its wake as Arjun held Priya’s hand. “I’m glad we’re past the horrible beginning. I am proud to have Priya as my partner.”
His words caught at her heart, a rare genuineness looking out of his eyes. “Also I feel happy, Arjun. We can overcome anything together.
Their young relationship was soon put to the test. A powerful corporate rival began hitting hard at Mehta empire putting its very existence into jeopardy and this went down well with Priya and Arjun.
During these late hours that turned into early morning moments, they sorted their things and planned on how to proceed next time. In his case, strategic thinking coupled with contacts worked in favor of Arjun but crucial information being dug up by Priya was instrumental in using their combined knowledge to start turning the tide.
One evening when piles of papers were stacked everywhere, she noticed tiredness chiseled on Arjun's face.”Arjuna, permit yourself some leisure time.” You weren’t off your feet for too long.
“No way!” He disagreed, shaking his head and making his face look hard. “We can’t take a break now, we’re about to conclude a deal that will save our company.”
Her touch on his shoulder was gentle but firm. “Please be well for us. Please stop.
When he heard this, his determination faltered. Arjun also nodded in agreement; “But make sure you promise me to slow down as well.”
With a slight smile on her lips, Priya replied, "That's a deal."
Days of confrontation followed by tension would ensue. The enemy was relentless and each step it made was more premeditated than the previous one taken. Together they faced every test without fear, keeping their eyes fixed on the same target all through. They outsmarted their competitor into cooperating with them in order to secure the future of the business.
The storm having finally subsided found them at the balcony of their estate looking down at the city that had been their battlefield.” We made it,” she whispered with relief mixed with triumph.
With an arm across her shoulders, Arjun pulled her nearer him.” Yeah, we did it alright.”
Beyond the business, their successes were unparalleled. From a dejected pair, their struggles brought them closer and they became an indomitable partnership. It is still the same relationship that ever met hurdles and rose above them to become better survivors.
As his face depicted everything, Arjun looked at Priya while the city lights were flickering beneath them. “Priya – this marriage doesn’t just mean formality like it happened years before- I love you.”
Joyful tears glistened in Priya’s eyes. “Me too, I love you, Arjun”
Priya was very much pleased by Arjun’s kindheartedness; every time, Priya made sure she presented herself before him with all possible means to demonstrate her love and respect. They started laughing and giggling inside the house within no time. The house quickly turned into an asylum of joy and tenderness.
One evening Arjun faced Priya speaking this way on their first anniversary, “I am so thankful my dear.” You are a priceless part of me, Priya.
With that, Priya laughed happily with her eyes. “Arjun, I can’t even see mine without you.” Sweetheart, we still have many years together ahead.
