1219 Words
Warden Belmar, now realizing that Ethan Bryan was now ready, handed him the Golden Fang ring and access to his vast wealth and influence, a state-of-the-art direct phone to reach out to him if need ever be. “Here is a Black Elite Blank card, it's the only one made by Stark's banking system, it literally has no spending limit…” “Make sure you find my granddaughter too and keep her safe from my political and business rivals, that is all I ask of you in return for this.” Warden Belmar said before bidding Ethan Bryan farewell. Finally, Ethan Bryan was out of the Western border penitentiary, he immediately stopped a taxi. “Taxi, Bryan's street off central park.” “Get in.” The Taxi driver said and he zoomed off as soon as Ethan Bryan was inside. Twenty two minutes later, Ethan Bryan came down from the cab, he paid the cab driver and as he turned to leave, the cab driver held him by his cloth. “Hey, are you the ex-convict son of Mr Bruce Bryan?” His voice was laced with a mix of curiosity and bewilderment. Ethan Bryan was very confused at the moment, “Yes, is there an issue sir?” Ethan Bryan immediately asked. “No, not at all, it's just that…never mind, you will definitely find out for yourself.” The cab driver said and before Ethan Bryan could say another word, he immediately zoomed off. “What the heck.” Ethan Bryan said and walked down the street to his parents home. Before Ethan Bryan took the blame and went to prison for his grandfather-in-law's crime, his family used to run a successful business and lived above being comfortable. They were not that wealthy nor were they poor, they were like a second-tier family in Xoston City. “Oh my goodness!” Ethan Bryan immediately screamed as his gaze fell on his parents house, the house was now almost without roofs. As he approached the house, the neighbours began gazing at him from their windows. He reached the door and it turned out that the door was actually locked from the inside. “What the heck is actually going on here?!” The whole house was a mess, Ethan Bryan looked around and noticed that it was only his parents house that had been dilapidated over the years. “What really happened all these years as I was gone?”. He immediately muttered to himself. “Who...is there?” “Who is at…the front door?” The voice of an old man was heard from the inside of the house. Ethan Bryan immediately stood up from the front poach where he was sitting and walked to the door. “Dad, is that you?!” Ethan Bryan asked as the door was unbolted from the inside of the house. Just then an old man immediately opened the door and walked out holding a pair of old wooden clutches. “What the heck dad!” Ethan Bryan yelled immediately his gaze fell on his father. His father, Mr Bruce Bryan now looked ten years older than his age. As Mr Bruce Bryan took another step forward he almost fell but was held up by Ethan Bryan, his son. “Ethan, let's…go inside.” Mr Bruce Bryan said his voice was a bit above whispers and he sounded very sick. “Dad, you look very sick, are you really okay?” Ethan Bryan asked as he shut the door behind him. “Dad, where is mom, Katty and Alice?” Ethan Bryan asked as he stared around their living room which was now empty. The only thing remaining there was just a broken center table and his father's old rocking chair. Mr Bruce Bryan slowly sat on his old rocking chair and his old wooden clutches immediately fell to the ground and made a clattering sound. The situation was intense as Ethan Bryan stared askance at his father demanding any form of explanation regarding what he was seeing. “Ethan…why? Why did you have to…take the fall for Lord Patrick's crime?” “If Lord Patrick was the one who…shot dead that peaceful chief operating officer at the Patrick's Global Group, why didn't he take blame for it?” “Ethan you…should have at least told me and your mom before…making such a decision.” Mr Bruce Bryan said, his voice was laced with a mixture of confusion and anxiety. Tears began welling down his eyes slowly as he spoke. “Dad, it's not like that, we needed to make sure that no one else would know that about it, I'm really sorry dad…” “Now can you please tell me exactly what happened here?” “Why does our house look like a dilapidated grave yard and where the heck are our properties?” “Also where exactly are my mom, Alice and Katty?!” Ethan Bryan immediately asked, his voice was now a bit raised as he spoke. “Ethan my son, we really lost everything after you got sent to prison over the murder of Mr Adams Sanders.” “Your uncle, Mr Charles, blackmailed and sold us out to Eric Sean and his business partners…we got bankrupt and we lost everything including the entire Bryan enterprise.” “We had to start surviving on selling our properties and that's why the whole house is…well empty.” Mr Bruce Bryan said, his voice was laced with a mixture of remorse and regret. His facial expressions also wore the same looks of disappointment and remorse. Ethan Bryan was immediately taken aback, he had always known that his uncle, Mr Charles Bryan had been jealous of them but he had never believed that he would go as far as betraying his brother. Sighing softly, Ethan Bryan immediately walked over to his father and held him by his shoulder. “Dad, I'm back now and I promise to fix all this issue.” “Dad, what about mom, Katty and Alice, where exactly did you say they were again?” “Ethan, your mom is currently hospitalized at the moment and we haven't been able to pay for her hospital bills due to lack of money.” “The doctors said she wouldn't be attended to until we pay up her hospital bills.” Mr Bruce Bryan's voice was a bit above whispers and laced with a mix of disappointment and regret. Ethan Bryan slowly gazed at his father, “Which hospital is mom being admitted in?” “St. Mary's hospital, just downtown.” Mr Bruce Bryan immediately replied, his hands were now shaky. “And my sisters, Katty and Alice, where exactly are they?” Mr Bruce shook his head and hesitated a bit before replying, two drops of tears escaped his eyes. “After we had lost everything, Mr Bobby came to collect his debt, when we couldn't pay up he took your two sisters, Katty and Alice to work…” “At his local brothel.” Mr Bruce Bryan said as he bowed his head in shame and regret. “Wait, what?!” “Katty and Alice are working at a brothel?” Ethan Bryan asked, his voice was laced with anger and curiosity.
