Chapter 22

3294 Words

Chapter 22 Despite the fears coiling about me, I slept heavily. Enough food in my belly, a warm bath, and the general exhaustion caused by fleeing through the Erynvorn combined to pull me into a vast and shimmering sea of slumber. I woke once, confused, to see golden moonlight falling across my bedcovers. A quick glance out the window showed a large full moon in the sky, in addition to the smaller crescent that had accompanied my journey through the forest. With a sigh, I fell back asleep. Insistent knocking on my door roused me. Groggily, I pushed the covers back and sat up. “Rose?” Kian’s voice. “Are you still alive in there?” “I’m coming,” I called, getting to my feet. At least there was enough moonlight filtering through the windows that I wouldn’t stumble blindly into the walls.
