Suddenly, a heart-wrenching pain came from my ankle. I couldn't help but feel my heart tighten. I lowered my head and saw a snake, which was more than four inches thick, crawling up my leg. I had been afraid of nothing since I was a child. My mother said that my personality was like a boy's. I wasn't afraid of anything except slippery things, such as snakes.
