CHAPTER ELEVEN The train arrived in Fairfield in the late afternoon. As Will had said, there was a carriage waiting for them. While they rode up the Boston Post Road to Ambleside, Allen and Kathleen’s home, they passed old friends’ houses. Many were out on their verandas and waved, welcoming the Tattersalls home. Anna wondered how many of them knew what was happening. They were as gossipy as the people in Keene Valley so she knew news like this would travel fast. They pulled into the circular drive in front of the large Victorian house and Anna noticed the porch swing on the veranda. She had such fond memories of visiting here to see Will when they were courting and stealing kisses on that swing. She’d at least have her memories. Kathleen and Allen must have heard the carriage.
