CHAPTER TWELVE Aunt Lil left early the next morning for Philadelphia, only saying goodbye to Kathleen. Anna really wanted to have some time to try to speak with Aunt Lil. Although she was tough, Anna genuinely liked her and wanted to try to make peace. She would write her and hope that Aunt Lil would at least read her letter. The next week was spent packing boxes and trunks for Anna and the boys’ move to Boston. Paul was still against it, but, after a few days’ consideration, relented and said he would at least give it a try. Anna and Will were invited to parties in Fairfield and Southport, which they politely declined, saying they were preparing for a trip, not wanting to have to explain the situation in front of a lot of people at once.
