CHAPTER TWENTY THREE Anna returned to Margaret’s house and found the boys and Will throwing a baseball on the leaf-filled, grassy median in the middle of the street. They didn’t see her so she stood on the stoop and watched them for a while. Paul was developing quite a throwing arm and Will was backing up further and further to catch the ball. Sam ran back and forth, kicking leaves and shagging the ball when either his father or brother missed it. It was nice to see them enjoying themselves with their father.
