Can humans defeat death?
For a thousand years of my existence, immortality was considered a gift but a curse to some who were trapped in the cycle of life, being left behind by those people they learned to love.
“Tell us, Dad, why does Mom want to be immortal?” Shelly asked again when Liam did not answer.
“People want to be immortal because they think they do not have enough time to do their purpose in life,” I answered, feeling sad with the truth.
“But Nathalie,” Shelly looked to me, letting me feel how crushed her heart was as she found out about her mother. “Dreaming to live for a long time is different from wanting to become immortal.”
She has a point, but how could I explain that Corynne had chosen to be greedy, choosing immortality and sacrificing her family.
