Before I could stop myself, the words escaped my lips. In Logan's office, Lina stopped in the middle of her stride and placed her hand on the edge of the desk. Although she didn't look at me, I could see that her shoulders tensed and that her whole body became taut.

I stepped closer and yelled, "Don't lie to me." I felt as though my heart may explode from the force of its hammering. "The opposing pack. Your engagement with them. Did you leave for that reason?
At last, Lina turned, a façade of serene indifference covering her features. But she was easily identified by her eyes. I felt sick to my stomach as a flash of something—guilt perhaps—went through them.
