"Are you certain you can handle this?" With a tight tone and a glint of reluctance in his eyes, Logan asked.
"Do I have an option?" Pulling my jacket firmly over me, I shot back.
There was an unspoken tension in the air as the predawn coolness enveloped the trees. After the pandemonium of last night, Logan and I had hardly spoken, yet now here we were, side by side, prepared to police the area.
At last, he turned on his heel and started for the tree line, saying, "Don't slow me down."
