I groaned in pain, noticing Gem standing behind me. She gazed at my bloody hands, her expression concerned.
"What are you doing here at this time of night?" I asked.
"I'll explain later, when you're better," she replied, helping me sit against a wall. "Where's your first-aid kit?"
I winced, trying to avoid the question. "Damn, I'm f*****g thirsty."
Gem stared at me, then stood up and walked towards my car. She opened the unlocked door and popped the trunk. Moving aside the top items, she retrieved the kit.
She dropped the kit on the ground and put on gloves and before I knew it she tore my clothes off using scissors from the kit.
His wound wasn't deep, but he was bleeding. Gem poured sterilizer on the wound to disinfect it.
Using surgical scissors, she picked up cotton wool, dipped it in normal saline, and cleaned the wound . Then, covered it with a sterile bandage.
"Let's go inside," She said, putting his unaffected arm around Gem's neck. "Can you stand?" she asked
He nodded.
I was amazed by her own expertise. How did she know how to clean wounds? Was she a nurse? Alex seemed to wonder
"Sit for now," She said, guiding him to a seat.
Alex sat, looking surprised. "You're experienced," he said.
"I think you should go to the hospital tomorrow," she replied, expressionless.
Just then, Alex's doctor arrived.
"My doctor is on his way," Alex said.
"You have some nerve, summoning a doctor to your house this late," she said.
"Are you afraid?" Alex asked.
"No, it's your business," she replied, standing up.
The door opened, and the doctor rushed in.
"Did you treat the wound yourself?" the doctor asked.
"No, my wife did," Alex replied.
Making gem stop dead in her tracks, shocked.
"Sir, you mean she...?" the doctor asked, turning to Alex.
"Yes, that's my wife over there," Alex said, nodding towards gem. "You can confirm for yourself."
The doctor's eyes widened as he looked at Alex........................,.
"Excuse me, ma'am," he said.
Gem turned to face him, bowing slightly. "Good day, sir."
"Are you a nurse?" he asked and she shook her head.
"Okay!" he said, nodding approvingly. "This is good."
"Please, I'll excuse myself now," she said, walking out to leave the two men in private.
Lingering at the door was gem with the intent on eavesdropping. Just then, Lola appeared, and she swiftly walked away, avoiding detection.
"Wait, do you mean she isn't... normal?" Alex asked, his eyes narrowing. "No ordinary person could treat a wound with such precision and expertise. This isn't a normal way of treatment."The doctor said convincingly
He studied me intently, his expression thoughtful. "In my experience, I've mostly seen this pattern of treatment among military personnel. The technique, the confidence... it's unmistakable."
My heart skipped a beat as I processed his words.
"So, are you suggesting she might have a military background?" I asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
The doctor's gaze lingered on me. "Can't you see her demeanor? She doesn't even smile or attempt to conceal her expressionless face. And her height, athletic build... it's a rare combination. You said she's your wife; have you noticed anything unusual about her?"
The doctor's eyes locked onto mine, searching for answers.
I forced a smile, attempting to downplay the doctor's suspicions. "No, nothing out of the ordinary," I replied, trying to sound convincing.
The doctor's eyes narrowed, his expression skeptical.
"No," I replied, my thoughts racing. Both Gem and the doctor seemed mysterious, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that Gem wasn't involved in any mafia group or military organization. Her hasty departure and the way she looked at the doctor suggested a deeper connection between them.
"Is this your doctor?" Her words echoed in my mind, laced with mockery.

From Gem's Point Of View
I waited downstairs, ensuring the doctor left safely. That man was notorious for human trafficking, and Alex had him in his house. I was lost in thought when a tap on my shoulder startled me. Turning, I saw Alex holding the doctor's hand, his eyes tied.
"I need your help," Alex said, his eyes pleading. "Can you help him to his car?"
I stared, confused. "Why would I?"
Alex's expression turned desperate. "Please."
I settled into the sofa, intrigued. What plan did he have in mind?
Just then, Lola appeared. "I'll escort him," she said.
"No, I will," I countered, standing up.
As I tightened the doctor's blindfold and grasped his neck, Alex smiled. "Don't treat a doctor that way, wifey."
I exchanged a confused glance with him.
"Let Lola escort him," Alex said.
"Let's go," he added, taking my hand.

Alexander's Point Of View
Gem looked confused, and for the first time, I saw vulnerability in her eyes. I felt a thrill.
"Alex," she called, stopping me.
"So, your voice can be this sexy?" I teased.
"Stop!" she said, her tone firm. "What's this about?"
I grinned. "Did I shock some part of your brain or perhaps your heart?"
Gem's expression turned serious. "Does this seem funny to you?"
I feigned innocence. "Does what seem funny?"
She shook her head. "Never mind."
As I pretended to sweep her off her feet, she held my shoulder. "No, I can walk."
I smiled, intrigued.
"What's with your smile?" she asked.
"We'll be sleeping together tonight," I said, and she withdrew her hand.
"What is it?" I asked.
"No, I won't," she said firmly, shaking her head.
I sensed she was hiding something.
---
I stared at her, my expression softening. "Okay, you may go to your room. I was just kidding."
As soon as I reassured her, she swiftly departed. But before she reached the door, I swept her off her feet, lifting her into the air.
"Alex!" she exclaimed, shocked.
"What?" I asked, feigning innocence.
"Drop me!" she demanded.
"I'm already at the door," I replied, striding swiftly towards my room.
"Are you aware you're injured?" she asked, concern lacing her voice.
I opened the door, stepped inside, and closed it behind us. Gently, I set her down.
She rushed for the door, but I was quicker. With a press of the remote, the door locked.
"You can't leave," I said, a hint of mischief in my voice.
She tugged at the door, but it wouldn't budge. "Alex! Open this door right now!" she shouted.
I retrieved my kit to clean my wound, which had begun bleeding. "I threw the key at her. Open it, and you may leave."
"Damn you!" she cursed. "This key takes the fingerprints of only the first person who uses it."
"Damn me?" I asked, attempting to lighten the mood.
"I'm not ready for this," she said, her voice trembling.
"Ready for what?" I inquired.
"You know what," she replied, her tone calm but resolute.
"And what am I trying to do?" I pressed.
"You and me in the same room... it isn't right," she said.
"What isn't right?" I asked, intrigued.
"Me and my wife in the same room isn't wrong at all. It's our obligation to each other – man to woman, husband to wife."
"I'm not ready," she reiterated, her voice rising.
"Are you afraid?" I asked.
"No, I'm not. Why would I?" she retorted.
"Okay. Do you think I would rush things with you?" I asked.
"I wouldn't know. You do it to other ladies," she shot back.
"Not really," I replied, looking at her.
"Can you clean your wounds yourself?" she asked.
"Why? Am I not a drug dealer? This is often part of our field," I said, wrapping my bandage.
"Fine. I'll sleep, but don't come near me. Sleep on the chair; I'll sleep here," she said, settling onto the bed.
"Okay. Won't you take a bath?" I asked.
"No. After all, we aren't sleeping together. Okay, feel free," I said.
I walked off to the bathroom, leaving her to her thoughts.
