PREPARING THE FINANCIAL STRUCTURE.

1029 Words
Seraphina’s POV “Mr. Bell,” Seraphina said. Richard looked up. “Yes?” “Prepare a new financial structure for the South Harbor purchases.” “Yes, Miss Vale.” “Miss Grant.” Olivia straightened. “Yes?” “I want the media focused on the East District.” Olivia blinked. “You want us to feed the story?” “I want you to control it.” Seraphina’s lips curved slightly. “Let the market believe we are still fighting for the East District.” Understanding slowly appeared on Olivia’s face. “Yes, Miss Vale.” “Mr. Cole.” Henry looked up. “Prepare all the legal documents under separate company names.” Henry nodded. “Understood.” Seraphina continued giving instructions. Within minutes, the room that had been filled with fear became busy with activity. Everyone had something to do, and had a new direction. Daniel remained quiet. Seraphina noticed him again. “Mr. Morris.” He looked up quickly. “Yes?” “You will oversee the East District team.” His eyes widened slightly. “But, Miss Vale, I thought we were changing direction.” “We are.” “Then why am I overseeing that team?” Seraphina looked directly into his eyes. “Because I still need someone to make sure our competitors continue believing that project is important.” Daniel hesitated. Then nodded. “Yes, Miss Vale.” Seraphina gave him a small smile. “Good.” But there was nothing warm in it. The meeting continued for another hour. When it finally ended, the executives began leaving one by one. Some looked relieved. Others still looked worried. Daniel was one of the first people to stand. “Miss Vale,” he said carefully. “Yes?” “I’m sorry this information was leaked.” Seraphina looked at him. His expression seemed sincere. Almost. “It wasn’t your fault, Mr. Morris.” He nodded. Then left the room. The door closed behind him. The moment he was gone, Marcus walked toward Seraphina. Clara remained standing nearby. “What are you thinking?” Marcus asked. Seraphina looked toward the door. “Daniel.” Marcus nodded. “I know.” “You saw it too?” “I did.” Clara looked between them. “You think Mr. Morris leaked the information?” Seraphina stood from her chair. “I think he is afraid.” “Afraid of what?” Seraphina slowly gathered her files. “That is what we are going to find out.” Marcus’s expression became serious. “I’ll look into him.” “No.” He looked at her. “No?” Seraphina’s eyes became cold. “Don’t just look into him.” She picked up her tablet. “Watch him.” Marcus smiled slightly. “That sounds more interesting.” “Find out where he goes.” “Yes.” “Who he calls.” “Of course.” “Who he meets.” Marcus nodded. “And if he notices?” Seraphina walked toward the door. “Then make sure he thinks he didn’t.” Marcus laughed quietly. “There she is.” Seraphina stopped and looked at him. “What?” “The woman who scares me.” For the first time that day, something close to amusement appeared in her eyes. “Then you should be very careful, Marcus.” He placed a hand over his chest. “I always am.” But as Seraphina walked out of the meeting room, the amusement disappeared from her face. Someone inside her company had betrayed her. She would find out who. And when she did... They would understand one thing. Phoenix Group did not forgive betrayal. Not anymore. The afternoon passed slowly. Seraphina stayed in her office, reviewing the new strategy. Clara moved in and out of the room with reports and updates. The media was still talking about the East District. Exactly as Seraphina expected. Several competitors had already started making inquiries about the land. Vaughn Corporation was among them. That did not surprise her. But Victor Rowan remained on her mind. His voice from the phone continued to repeat itself inside her head. You should be careful, Miss Vale. It was and Advice. Not a threat. Seraphina did not believe him. People like Victor did not give advice for free. She looked down at the file Clara had given her earlier. Victor Rowan. A man with too much money and Too much influence. And apparently, too much interest in Phoenix Group. Her phone rang. Marcus. She answered immediately. “What did you find?” “You always know when I have something.” “I know you.” A short silence came from the other side. Then Marcus cleared his throat. “I followed Daniel.” Seraphina sat straighter. “And?” “He didn’t go home.” Her eyes narrowed. “Where did he go?” “A restaurant near the river.” “Alone?” “No.” Seraphina’s fingers tightened around the phone. “Who did he meet?” “That’s the problem.” Her expression changed. “What do you mean?” “I couldn’t get a clear picture.” Seraphina frowned. “Marcus.” “I know, I know.” His voice became serious. “The man arrived in a black car. The windows were dark.” “Did Daniel speak to him?” “Yes.” “For how long?” “Almost twenty minutes.” Seraphina looked toward the window. “And then?” “Daniel left.” “Did you follow the car?” “I tried.” There was a pause. “But someone noticed me.” Seraphina’s eyes became colder. “You were followed?” “Not exactly.” “Marcus.” “Alright. Yes.” She stood from her chair. “Are you safe?” A short silence followed. “Are you worried about me?” “Answer the question.” Marcus laughed softly. “Yes. I’m safe.” Seraphina exhaled quietly. “Good.” “Seraphina.” “What?” “This is bigger than Daniel.” Her face became serious.
