The maids nodded, trembling as fear gripped their hearts. Just as instructed, they picked her up and led her to the room.
The other maids were quiet. No one could utter a word. Gabrielle looked at the Queen.
She could see the pity and empathy she felt for her in her eyes but there was nothing she could do.
She sighed as she was led to the room.
“Kindly have your bath so you can have breakfast, my lady. The contest would soon begin.“ One of the maids announced as they led her to her room.
She nodded in response as she watched them walk out. Her whole life was crumbling right in front of her yet she could not do anything.
Her whole life was now a mess. It was not a matter of choice anymore, she was going to marry whoever wins the competition.
Tired and frustrated, Brielle stood up and headed towards the bathroom. Her whole body ached.
Never in her life had she run as much as she did today. Why didn’t her mother's necklace help her escape? Why did her mother leave her alone all by herself?
I placed my hand on my neck but then was shocked. My eyes widened in shock. What was going on? Where was the necklace? No, I could not afford to lose the necklace just like that.
That is the only inheritance of my mother I had left.
I hurriedly dashed back to the room, searching for the small piece of the bag I had brought.
My heart skipped a minute as I could not find it there. No.
I began to search even more closely. Had it fallen when I argued with Father? Of course, it must have.
Father would not want to see me and I knew for sure that he would still be in the living room.
I was grateful all the contestants had gone out to practice before I walked in.
I couldn’t imagine being embarrassed by Father, right in front of them all.
I headed to the door and opened it gently. As soon as I opened it, the maids rushed to the door.
I rolled my eyes. Were they going to be bold to hold me down? That was not going to be possible.
“You” I pointed to one of the maids. The tallest one.
“Yes, my lady” Sh bowed and walked closer.
“Go to the living room and search for me if you will find any necklace whatsoever there. It had dropped when I returned.
Bring it to my room when you find it. I might be in the bathroom
I was so sure it would be in the living room. I had not gone anywhere else aside from there. The maid nodded and walked away quickly.
It got into the large golden bath that was in the bathroom. At this time, I had to do everything that pleaded with father, perhaps it would soften his heart. A few minutes later, she heard a knock on the door.
“Come on in” I had a neutral feeling as I held the bottle. I had a smile on my face in the bathroom. I was beginning to bathe.
“Drop the necklace” I smiled as he was looking and acting drunk. I could not be mad, could I?
“I am sorry…. We could not find it” The maid bowed with fear and shock written all over her face. Wait for what?
Ayden, the young stranger who had held her hands looked at the necklace in he is hand.
The necklace is indeed beautiful. What was he going to do with it? He smiled as he held the necklace, staring at it. It was very beautiful.
“Come on, Ayden. We still have a lot of things to do today!” One of his co-workers called. “We are to return home soon”
His friend, Olive whom they had been childhood friends called. They had come from a distant land to sell.
