“Father” I faked a smile. My heart raced even more.
I had never seen, Father, that upset. His eyes were like burning coals.
Immediately, Father walked closer to me and pulled my hands, dragging me inside with him.
I tried to catch my breath as he pulled me away in anger.
Just as we got into the living room, Father threw me to the floor. I gasped in shock.
The Queen was there, and her son, Donald was also present. Just like I suspected, Donald had a smile on his face.
The Queen gasped in shock as she saw my Father's action. He had never treated me that way.
“I gave you everything you need as a child. You were privileged to get a lot of things! I have always wanted the best option for you but you do not seem to want it.
I have always done a lot of things because of the love I have got for you and your mother and what do you want to repay me with? Betrayal? Shame? Disgrace?” He furrowed his brows while raising his voice.
“Father, I…….”
“Shut up, you useless child!” My eye reddened.
No, that was the last thing I had expected. Father would talk to me in that manner.
I tried to hold back my anger and tears but the smile on Donald's face did not make it easier. If I was going to die, then I would rather die than allow Father to impose his decision on me.
Standing up to the king was a gracious offense and the punishment could be disastrous.
“You are not going to make decisions for me, Father. All my life, you have made decisions for me.
Not anymore, Father. I am a human just like everyone else. I have the right to make decisions myself.
I am not going to marry any of those princes!” I yelled in anger.
“Keep your voice low, Brielle. You are talking to your Father, the king” The Queen pleaded as she moved closer to me.
“How dare you raise your voice at me?” Father roared, he was getting even more upset but I did not care.
If that was what it would take for me to be happy then it was worth it.
“I am not sorry Father. If that is the price I have to pay, then so be it. What greater punishment would surpass death? I would rather die than marry someone I don’t love! I will not do your wish, Father! I stand today to disobey you, Father!”
“How dare you!”
“Darrell!” The Queen yelled in fear as Father pulled out his sword and aimed at me.
I protected my face with my hands immediately. Was Father really going to kill me?
